How to Make a Paper Plate Fish
If you are enjoying the sunshine and making a barbecue, I am sure you will have some paper plates and plastic spoons around, ready to make this paper plate fish.
Supplies

MATERIALS:
- 2 Paper plates (for each paper plate fish you want to make)
- Acrylic paint in black and orange
- Paint brush
- Glue gun and glue stick
- Plastic spoons
- Pen
- Scissors
Step by Step Instructions for the Paper Plate FISH CRAFT
Step 1: Draw a body of fish onto the paper plate, divide it into seven parts, then cut it.

Depending on the age of the children, they can do this themselves or may need adult help for this stage.
Working with scissors is a great skill for preschoolers to work on, to develop their little hand muscles, hand eye coordination and fine motor skills but can still be tricky for some children, and toddlers will likely need help with this step.

Step 2: Paint your fish with the color orange, but leave spaces white alternately.

This will make a clown fish, just like Nemo, with his famous orange and white stripe pattern.

Step 3: Add the black paint for details.

Paint a thin black line in between each white and orange stripe, using your thin paint brush.

Step 4: Cut each of the plastic spoons and glue them into the painted paper plate.

These rounded shapes will be used for the fish scales, to give a 3d effect to your ocean fish craft.

Step 5: Paint the spoons as well, to blend with the rest of the fish body.

Once you’ve added one layer of fish scales, repeat until the entire body of the paper plate fish is filled with 3d scales all over.

Step 6: Add the googly eye for your fish’s face.

Step 7: Draw the tail and (2) fins on your second paper plate and then cut them.

Step 8: Paint them orange with a touch of black paint to match the rest of your clown fish.

Step 9: Attach them to the craft using the glue gun.

Step 10: To finish the craft, draw the fish mouth and you’re done with your FISH CRAFT. Doesn’t it look great!?

Craft Tips
- Be careful when using the scissor and the glue gun. Young children will need supervision with both of these to avoid accidents.
- Choose the proper materials to achieve the aspired outcome.
- Let your creativity flow in your works!
- You’re free to add designs you want. Try different colors to make all different kinds of tropical fish?
