How To Make Stick and Yarn Cobwebs

Start by finding some sticks – a great mini adventure in the park or your garden!

Lay out four sticks in a cross pattern, and tie them together where they meet in the middle, make sure this is nice and tight.

You can weave around a few times to make sure everything is secure.

Add another pair of sticks, this time in a diagonal cross, again tying them to the main structure to create that classic cobweb pattern.

Once your web’s framework is ready, cut a long piece of twine, and tie one end to the center.

Weave the twine around the sticks in a spiral pattern, looping around each stick as you go.

When you reach the outer edges, tie off the twine, and voilà, your very own cobweb!

The themes here are endless: talk about how real spiders weave their webs, the geometry of the web, and why spiders are essential to our ecosystem.
