Examples
This free printable heart template can be used for a few different versions of this classic I Love You to Pieces Valentines Day craft.
All of these versions are super easy for younger kids, which is why this craft is a real classic for toddlers and preschoolers. Kids can put their own unique spin on this Valentine’s craft, and add all kinds of extra details to the template if they would like!
I Love You to Pieces Ripped Paper Valentine Craft
Use ripped pieces of tissue paper, construction paper, or even just regular paper pre-colored by your child. You can re-use old drawings or coloring book pages, there are so many options!
Rip the paper, or even use scissors to snip depending on what your child prefers.
For younger toddlers, ripping is easier than cutting with scissors. Ripping paper is a really good skill to work on at a young age to help with developing those little hand muscles, and finger muscles.
Ripping confidently is a precursor to learning to cut with scissors, and ripping thicker paper like construction paper is going to be harder than ripping printer paper, newspaper or tissue paper. So with this craft, you can pitch it exactly at the right level for your child!
I Love You to Pieces Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces Valentine Craft
Another popular spin on the “I love you to pieces” theme is to use left over puzzle pieces. If you have spare pieces from puzzles with pieces missing, then saving them for crafts is a smart idea.
You can also use cheap puzzles if you prefer, for example you can pick up mini puzzles from the dollar store, pound shop or party bag supply section of the supermarket or grocery store.
Glue down each of the puzzle pieces to make an effective and cute Valentines day picture.
Depending on the colors of the puzzle pieces used, you can create all different kinds of effects. If you have puzzle pieces with your child’s favorite characters this can also be a lot of fun!
If you look closely you can see this heart craft contains pieces of Frozen 2 puzzle. This gives you so many cool options to make themes with the kids that they will love, like Spiderman, Paw Patrol, Encanto or whatever your kiddos are into nowadays!
Heart Shape from Puzzle Pieces
Another twist on the concept is to shape out a heart shape from your puzzle pieces. This comes out pretty cute!
Kids can pick rainbow color puzzle pieces for a nice bright result, or go with red and pink colors for the puzzle pieces for a classic Valentines theme.
Whichever way you decide to swing with this craft, it’s a super simple way to say “I love you to pieces, Valentine!”
