A Fun Fine Motor Activity
This activity is a great way to build fine motor skills while kids are having fun. Twisting the cardboard tube to wind up the yarn helps strengthen hand muscles and improves coordination. Feeding the yarn through the hole and guiding it into place also supports hand-eye coordination and control.
It’s a simple but effective way to work on those important early skills, especially for preschool and early elementary ages, all while keeping things playful and engaging.

How to Make The Fine Motor Spaghetti Activity
Print out the spaghetti yarn printable and cut out the page if needed. You can leave it as a full sheet or trim around the character depending on how you want to set it up. Next, attach the printable onto a piece of cardboard or thick cardstock so it has a sturdy backing. Carefully make a small hole at the mouth area, since this is where the yarn will feed through.
Place the empty plate at the bottom of the picture, then add a pile of yellow yarn on top of the plate to look like spaghetti. Feed one end of the yarn through the hole at the mouth from the front to the back. On the back of the board, tape the yarn onto an empty cardboard tube or toilet paper roll so kids can turn it and wind the yarn up.
To use the activity, children simply twist the cardboard tube at the back to pull the yarn through, making it look like the child in the picture is slurping up the spaghetti. It is a cute and silly interactive craft that works really well for pretend play and fine motor fun.
We have the printables to make this easy, so all you need to do is print the template, add the yarn, and set up the simple winding mechanism on the back.
