Coloured Sand Fireworks Pictures

Fireworks are such a fun theme for kids arts and crafts projects, and they are so versatile too – you can make them in so many different ways!

We made these fireworks pictures using coloured sand, and white glue. You could try the same project with coloured salt too, or even just with loose glitter – whatever you have available in your craft cupboard.

To make these pictures you will need:

  • Black card or paper
  • White glue / PVA glue
  • Coloured sand (or coloured salt) and / or loose glitter

Our coloured sand came ready coloured, and was left over from these sand art pictures we made recently, but you could also try dying your own using a similar method to the coloured salt

To make the sand art fireworks pictures, just squeeze glue onto the paper – this is great for developing hand strength in kids, and then once you’re happy with the design you’re ready to sprinkle your coloured sand all over.

And tip up to remove excess

It’s fun to sprinkle some glitter over the picture too, to add some sparkle to your fireworks!

To finish off, we stuck on a title and a written sentence about the picture – which is optional if you want to include that. (It says “I made a firework picture.. I used sand and glitter”)
