Goodbye Christopher Robin is the true story of the family behind the famous and well-loved Winnie-the-Pooh. It’s brilliantly made and really captivating.
It’s not often we come across a historical true story movie like this that appeals to the whole family, but it was a hit with my children aged 6-9 as well as with us parents. It took the kids about 10 or 15 minutes to get into, so at the beginning I wasn’t sure if it was going to keep their interest but by the end of the movie they were gripped! I found it a refreshing change to the usual animated movies that we watch with the kids.
At the end of the First World War, beloved children’s author A. A. Milne (Domhnall Gleeson) creates the magical world of Winnie-the-Pooh—which brings him immediate acclaim. But the books’ international success comes at a cost to the author, his young son Christopher Robin (Will Tilston) and his wife Daphne (Margot Robbie), in this beautifully filmed, poignant story about fame and family that also stars Kelly Macdonald.
Follow the journey A. A. Milne and his family embark on when the birth of Winnie-the-Pooh grasps the attention of not just Britain, but the entire world, as everyone falls for the warm, soft, fuzzy bear who conquers our hearts just as much today as he did back then.
I found the story of A.A Milne and his family really fascinating, as I admit I hadn’t really thought more deeply into Winnie the Pooh’s origins and what effect the fame of this story would have had on the family, particularly Christopher Robin (or Billy Moon as he was actually known to his family – as you’ll see in the film!)
At times their story is desperately sad, but there are moments that warm your heart. It’s a story that lingers in your mind after watching, not quickly forgotten, which is the mark of a great movie.
There’s a new movie from Aardman animation out in cinemas this Friday. Early Man is the new prehistoric comedy adventure from award-winning director Nick Park and Aardman, the creators of Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep.
Set at the dawn of time, when prehistoric creatures roamed the earth, ‘Early Man’ tells the story of courageous caveman hero Dug (Eddie Redmayne) and his best friend Hognob as they unite his tribe against a mighty enemy Lord Nooth (Tom Hiddleston) and his Bronze Age City to save their home.
The time had come for us to upgrade our coffee machine, so it was perfect timing for me to have the chance to review the Tassimo caddy. This is a pod coffee machine, made by Bosch, and I’m really loving it so far.
The Tassimo caddy machine is so easy to use, makes great tasting coffee with lots of varieties available, and looks sleek in my kitchen – so it ticks all of the boxes. Another extra handy feature with the caddy machine is that it has storage caddys on the side (hence the name) allowing you to keep your pods to hand at all times, in a neat and tidy way, and save on cupboard space. This is a really clever idea!
Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You is the best Christmas song, that instantly gets me into a festive mood! And now, there’s a new animated movie for all the family to enjoy over the holiday season featuring this song along with other Christmas hits from Mariah, and an all new original song specially for the movie.
Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You is executive produced by Mariah Carey, and tells the story of little Mariah and her Christmas wish for a puppy.
I’m looking forward to curling up on the sofa with a mince pie to watch this with the kids over the festive season, as it looks like a lovely feel good festive story, with a great soundtrack and beautiful CGI animation.

The summer holidays are here, and if you have kids with lots of energy you might be thinking of ways to keep them busy and active. My three boys are really into sports at the moment, especially football, and with six weeks to fill, I decided to try them out in one of our local Fit for Sport summer activity camps.
Ravensburger have a great range of puzzles, including 3D puzzles which are great for older kids. We tried out the Camper Van 3D puzzle, which is made up of 162 pieces. This puzzle is recommended for age 10+, who could put it together independently or slightly younger kids can get involved and make it together as a family.
The puzzle is made up of a large camper van base, with wheels and roof, and then the body of the camper van is made up around this using the 3D Puzzle pieces.
The instructions included are clear, and if you’ve done 3D puzzles from Ravensburger before then you’ll be familiar with the concept but if not, you can still get going pretty quickly.
After putting together the wheels and base, you will need to organise the puzzle pieces by number. With all of the Ravensburger 3D puzzles, you’ll find numbers and arrows on the back to help you. If you’re very experienced perhaps you could do the puzzle the other way round by looking only at the front pictures, but we find the numbers really helpful and my boys enjoy sorting those out together.
The pieces slot into the base as you can see. Putting together the camper van puzzle was something fun for our family to do together, and it didnt take too long before all of the puzzle pieces were in place
Then all that’s needed is the roof! It looks pretty effective once finished, and can either be displayed or broken apart and stored back inside the box to made again as many times as you like.
