Colic Awareness Month – Letter to New Parents, and Giveaway

Did you know that September is Colic Awareness Month. It’s something that you probably wouldn’t even think about until you have a new baby, but if your baby does suffer from colic it can make life miserable for all involved! There is no right or wrong answer to how to solve colic, but sharing experiences with other can really help and that’s why Infacol have developed Colic Awareness Month in September as a time for parents, carers and healthcare professionals to swap stories of soothing crying babies and to offer support, solidarity and information to anyone that might be going through a rough first few months with their newborn.

If you are not sure what Colic is all about – according to NHS Choices, colic is the name for excessive, frequent crying in a baby who otherwise appears to be healthy. It affects 1 in 5 babies and tends to begin when a baby is a few weeks old. Normally, it stops at 4 months of age but can go on until a baby is 6 months old. Other signs that a baby might be suffering from colic include when that baby clenches their fists, draws up their legs and goes red in the face. One of the theories is that it is caused by trapped wind which is very uncomfortable for babies.

New Fingerlings Books Review & Giveaway

Little fans of Fingerlings® will be excited to see the new range of three new nonfiction Fingerlings® titles published by DK this month, in partnership with WowWee. These are a great way to make reading fun, and we found that the books are a great way to learn more about the Fingerlings characters.

The new books include a sticker activity book, and two early reader books focusing on the unicorn and the monkey Fingerlings. All of the books are bright and colourful, and of course really cute.

Drumond Park Wally the Washer Review & Giveaway

Wally the Washer is another great fun and whacky new table top game for little ones from Drumond Park. This game focuses on Wally the washing machine, who spins just like the real thing, then spills out his washing – as young players race to collect their coloured clothes – and be the first to fill their washing line… But watch out for the dirty old sock! If it tumbles out with the washing on your turn, you must put all the clothes back and wear the giant clothes peg on your nose, until the next time the dirty sock appears!

There’s something about Peppa Pig that just grabs toddler’s attention. Without N even having seen Peppa on TV, she quickly managed to develop a real interest in the little pink pig just from some of the Peppa Pig toys and books she’d come across – so much so that her first sentence was “Where Peppa Pig?”!

We were sent the new Count with Peppa Interactive Money Box toy for review, and of course once she saw it she was attracted to it straight away and very keen to get playing. The great thing about this toy is that as well as being fun with the Peppa theming, it’s also very educational so it’s a great way to get your toddler some practise with their colours and numbers.

Fun to Learn Friends Art Magazine

Fun to Learn Friends Art magazine is a creative magazine offering a great variety of screen free activities for young children, including many of their favourite characters. These activities can be done independently, or together with family depending on your child’s age and level.

Each issue is 36 pages long, and is themed around a topic. Each issue of the magazine includes inspirational ideas to make, design, colour and draw, along with lots of interactive stickers, and a 4 page cut-out card activity. You also get a cover mount gift each time, which is a craft kit with all the necessary parts to make a wonderful themed creation that is explored and explained within the magazine.

Taking place 3-5 August in Croxteth County Park in Liverpool, CBBC Summer Social is the BBC’s biggest ever kids event, and the only festival to offer 6-12 year olds (and their families) a unique line-up of CBBC and CBeebies favorites along side a host of international music artists.

Live musical performances will include New Hope Club, Bars & Melody & Johnny Orlando, Matt Terry, Max & Harvey, The Next Step, Sophia Grace, Union J, Kidz Bop, Shrek the Musical and more.

For the younger fans, CBeebies’ royalty, Mr Tumble will be on site along with a CBeebies Village packed with enticing activities and performances including Sam & Mark and Andy Day & The Odd Socks.

One of the things I love about having a daughter after having all boys is the chance to dress her up, especially when special occasions come around. Eid is just around the corner, as we celebrate the end of Ramadan, and it’s the perfect opportunity for my little princess to wear something a bit special.

I was really impressed with the range of beautiful dresses at Roco clothing, and it wasn’t easy to choose but I selected a gorgeous champagne colour dress for N (17 months) and some amazing sparkly shoes to go with it.
