I’m back with another of our fun monthly craft challenges with my Kids Craft Stars friends. This month our theme is crafts that go along with popular picture books for kids, and we chose Dinosaur Roar which is one of R’s favourite books.
We used bubble wrap printing to create dinosaurs in lots of different shapes and colours, just like in the book.
Bubble wrap printing is one of our favourite ways to paint, and the spotty design that you get on the paper worked perfectly for the lumpy bumpy texture of dinosaur skin. We used the larger style of bubble wrap for this project.
You will need:
- Bubble wrap
- Paint (and paintbrush – optional, R did some with paintbrush and some with his hands)
- Paper
After covering the bubble wrap with coloured paint, press down your paper on top to make the print. We did some dinosaurs in a browny colour and some in blue and green.
Leave your prints to dry for a while, and once they are ready you can cut out your dinosaur shapes. We have some wooden dinosaur shape templates so used those, but you could also draw freehand. If you don’t want the black outlines to show on your dinosaurs, then draw around the templates on the back of your prints.
Once we had all the dinosaurs cut out, we stuck them down onto a large brown roll of paper to create our Dinosaur Roar picture
Once all the dinosaurs are glued down, you can label each one if you like – like in the book “Dinosaur short” “Dinosaur tall” etc.
