Today, I’m excited to share with you a super cute handprint campfire craft that’s perfect for little campers in the making.

Handprint Campfire Craft
Make a cute campfire themed handprint craft, the perfect keepsake of summer.
This adorable camping craft works for toddlers, preschoolers or older kids at summer camp
Materials
- Brown construction paper
- Orange, yellow and red non-toxic paint
- Brown paint
- Large Craft sticks
- Glue
- Cotton balls
- Thin stick
- Marker for names (optional)
Instructions
- Take a piece of brown construction paper large enough to fit your child’s handprints.
- Paint the craft sticks with the brown paint, and leave them to dry.
- Pour orange, yellow and red paints onto a plate. Have your child dip their hands in the paint, and then firmly press their painted hands onto the paper to create a flame effect.
- You will want to atart at the top with the yellow, then add the orange below, then the red at the bottom of the flame, overlapping as shown in the finished craft picture.
- You don't need to let each handprint fully dry before adding the next color, it's okay if they blend a little bit.
- While the paint is drying, use glue to add cotton ball 'marshmallows' to the end of the thinner craft sticks, ready to add to the picture. For this, you want wooden skewer type of sticks
- Once the handprint flames have dried, glue three or four craft stick logs in the middle of the paper, overlapping them to resemble logs at the base of a campfire.
- You can then glue the cotton ball marshallow sticks to the paper as if they’re roasting over the fire.
- Finally, have each child add their name with black marker
If doing this craft in the classroom or in a summer camp, ask each child to write their name at the top to personalize their artwork and make sure they keep track of which piece is theirs.
For a smooth crafting experience, make sure the kids are in something you don’t mind getting a little paint on or wear a smock.
You can also encourage children to add their unique touches – maybe they’d like to draw rocks around their campfire or add glitter for a sparkly flame
For added learning, follow up this craft with a story about camping or a sing-along of campfire songs for an immersive experience.
This handprint campfire craft not only celebrates the spirit of summer but also provides a tangible connection to those beloved camping traditions.
Whether it’s done in the classroom to support a learning theme or at home as a fun summer activity, it’s bound to ignite the imaginations of your little ones.
So gather your supplies, get those little hands ready for some paint, and let’s make some campfire memories!
