Wise Words

Who motivates you with their wise words? For me there are so many.

Many are from a spiritual angle, like Rumi, Imam Shafi, Ibn Qayyim al Jawziyyah as well as of course the words of RasoolAllah salAllahu alayhi wa sallam and Allah SWT Himself in the Quran. I absolutely love when you look at an analyse the small details of meanings of the words in Quran and find the depth to which the meanings go. Nouman Ali Khan from the Bayyinah Institute is a very good speaker for this, and is one of my favourites to listen to.

Some readers might not be aware but I have another blog focusing more on this, which is a little neglected at the moment cos this one keeps me so busy! When I get chance, I do love to go back and read through the words of Wisdom I have collected on there. It’s at:

Fafirrooelaallaah.wordpress.com (for the non Arabic speakers it means flee towards God). I collected some of my favourite words of wisdom on there since 2007! I feel that many of the spiritual sayings of people like Rumi or Ibn Atallah can speak to anyone – It’s definitely not just a Muslim only thing although of course the base and foundation of their wisdom is from Islam.

“What does patience mean?

It means to be far-sighted enough to trust the end result of a process.

It means to look at the thorn and see the rose, to look at the night and see the dawn.”

– Rumi

I also have a couple of Pinterest boards filled with motivational wise words. There is just something I love about seeing the positive words together with beautiful images. I find it both relaxing and motivating to go through and look at all of these! Here and here if you want to have a look. (follow and repin if you like! :D)

Sometimes the very simple statements are powerful, whether from literary writers, words from song lyrics, children’s books like Winnie the Pooh (he is deeper than you would think! :D)  or even just anonymous sayings

If you want to fly, you’ve got to give up the shit that weighs you down

– Toni Morrison

“If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together… there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart… I’ll always be with you.”
― Winnie The Pooh (A.A. Milne)

“I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet”

– Mahatma Ghandi

It is amazing the impact that words can have at times and of course its not just the written word but also the spoken word. If you need any Motivational Speakers for any dinners or events, there are loads to chose from. It’s not always the case that inspirational words can only come from the most famous or most historical people, the beauty is that everyone has their own words and wisdom to share. There are so many people around today that have so many experiences to share and words that could benefit, it would be a honour to listen and I believe it is important to take knowledge and wisdom from wherever you find it – so I would not want to just restrict myself to one kind of speaker only.

What are some of your favourite quotes, or who do you get inspiration from? I would love some more to add to my collection.
