This craft combines simple cutting, tracing, and gluing with a little creativity to make a striking eagle display. Children can practice fine motor skills while learning about the national bird of the United States.

Because most of the details come from layered paper pieces, even younger children can create an eagle they’ll be proud to display. Older kids can take extra time adding details with markers or experimenting with different shades of brown paper for a more realistic look.

Fun Facts About Eagles

Did you know that the bald eagle isn’t actually bald? The name comes from an old English word meaning “white-headed,” referring to its striking white feathers. Bald eagles have incredibly powerful eyesight and can spot a fish from over a mile away while soaring high in the sky. They build some of the largest nests of any bird in North America, with some nests growing to over 8 feet wide and weighing more than a ton after being used and added to year after year!
