Materials

  • yellow paper
  • green paper
  • wooden stick
  • green paint
  • scissors
  • glue
  • tape

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Cutting the Petal Shapes
Start by cutting out six petal shapes from your paper, ideally use yellow paper to mimic the classic daffodil. Each petal should be an oval with a slightly pointed end – think of an elongated teardrop.
  2. Step 2: Crafting the Daffodil trumpet
Take a piece of yellow paper and cut a semi-circle. This will serve as the centre of the daffodil, also known as it's trumpet. We will roll this to create the shape.
  3. Step 3: Adding Glue to the Center
Apply a small dab of glue to your semi-circular base, this will make sure it sticks together when rolled.
  4. Step 4: Rolling the Central Cone
Now roll it together. This will be the trumpet-like center that is characteristic of a daffodil.
  5. Step 5: Arranging the Petals
One by one, arrangle the petals overlapping them slightly to achieve a full, blooming effect.
  6. Step 6: Attaching the Central Cone
Once the petals are in place, affix the rolled central cone in the middle of the semi-circle. Make sure it stands upright, mimicking the trumpet of a real daffodil.
  7. Step 7: Creating the Details of the Daffodil’s Trumpet
For added texture, snip tiny fringes along one edge of a small strip of yellow paper. Roll this fringed strip and glue it inside the central cone to simulate the ruffled edge of the daffodil's trumpet.
  8. Step 8: Painting the Stem
Paint a wooden skewer or a stick green to create a natural-looking stem. Allow the paint to dry completely before proceeding to the next step.
  9. Step 9: Assembling the Flower
Carefully insert the green stick through the daffodil. Ensure it’s centrally located so the flower balances well on the stem.
  10. Step 10: Adding Leaves
Finally, cut long, leaf-shaped pieces from green crepe paper. Attach these around the stem at the base of the flower with a bit of glue.
