There are so many simple ways to help your little ones learn at home. I love this glue and stick the missing parts shape puzzle activity since you can put it together in just a few minutes using supplies you’re bound to have available.
I came across this simple educational activity on Instagram, and Hanifah kindly let me share it with you after she made this with her 27 month old daughter.
To put together this activity, all you’ll need is:
- Paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Coloured paper
Hanifah has cut each shape into two pieces to make a simple puzzle for her daughter to solve. It’s a fun way to think about how pieces fit together to make a whole, and to learn the names of the common 2d shapes. You could also get some colouring learning in here if you make each piece in different colours.
Her daughter did a great job with matching up all the shapes!
To extend the activity for older children, try with more pieces to make up each shape, or relate it to fractions and get the kids to label up the fraction sizes of each piece.
To make the activity reusable, you could try making the pieces out of foam and sticking them onto the window with water.
