The Glorious Glowing Lantern Parade

Thursday 23rd October – Sunday 2nd November

October half term is one of the most exciting times of the year at BeWILDerwood, a truly visual and sensory celebration of the beauty and mystery of the BeWILDerwood story. A full day experience the whole family can enjoy, The Glorious Glowing Lantern Parade is even bigger and even better this year.

Enjoy daily performances of the BeWILDerbats story, stay snug and warm by the fires and spend quality time creating luminous lanterns in the ‘Big Hat’. As dusk settles over the wood prepare to experience the park in a spectacular new light. Join together at the bonfire and begin the Glorious Glowing Lantern Parade, weaving majestically through the light and laser-lit woodland, dropping in to sneak a peek at familiar BeWILDerwood characters in their storybook setting.

Stretching nearly half a kilometre and reaching over 8 metres in height, the newest addition to the park takes adventure and playtime to magnificent new heights. Visit us for October half term and spend endless hours with family and friends, climbing and sliding, exploring and building, in a world with more than a little sprinkling of magic.

BeWILDerwood Book Bundle Giveaway

I’m also able to offer one In The Playroom reader the chance to win a bundle of BeWILDerwood books!
For those who are not familiar with BeWILDerwood, the park was based on a series of magical children’s books written by Tom Blofeld. When you visit you will see characters and places from the books and find yourself getting absorbed into the BeWILDerwood world of Boggles, Twiggles and more!
I love the idea of having the place and the books with the same characters and themes, as this really brings the stories to life and encourages children to want to visit the books after reading. We were sent a set of the books and when I gave them to Mr Z it brought back lots of memories of our visit to BeWILDerwood as it refreshed all the characters in his mind.
The books are chapter books and are quite involved stories. I would say they are for age 6 or 7+ depending on confidence in reading, but they do work as a bed time story for younger children if you read a chapter each night and there are plenty of illustrations throughout.
The three books in the series are:
  • A Boggle at BeWILDerwood
  • The BeWILDerbats
  • A BeWILDermuddle

You can find out more about the BeWILDerwood book series on the BeWILDerwood website.

If you have a child who loves to read about magical and mystical worlds, then they will probably enjoy these imaginative books even if they have not yet visited BeWILDerwood (but I would definitely recommend booking a trip if you can, it really is a lovely day out)

  1. Never been but it looks to be a magical place. Don’t know whether we will ever get there though as it is so far away.

  2. I’m hanging my head in shame because it’s about 10 minutes away but still haven’t been. The lantern parade sounds rather special so I think it’s time for the first visit.

  3. We go at least once a year. We went in the summer holidays to see the new Skymaze. We have been to the lantern parade once before and it was brilliant.

  4. I’ve not been before but when i’ve been down in Norfolk on holiday i’ve seen some leaflets for it. I would like to take the kids in the future x

  5. My husband and son have been to Bewilderwood whilst on holiday and had a FANTASTIC time, unfortunately due to illness I was unable to go with them, so I’m hoping we can get a trip in altogether soon

  6. We live close to Bewilderwood so try to go a couple of times a year and we LOVE it! These stories are truly wonderful too 🙂
