This year has been tough. The strict regulations following the Covid-19 pandemic have forced many of us into long weeks of solitude and isolation. When things were starting to feel a little bit normal again a second wave pushed the world into a second lockdown. Businesses have been struggling but they have also been very creative to keep the ball rolling. In this article we will talk a little bit about online dating and how you can still safely connect with people and keep sane during these turbulent times. Dress to impress, get a glass of wine – in my case – and lets make some new friends shall we?

I was invited to cover one of the events hosted by Date in a Dash and I wasn’t quite sure of what to expect. I am quite familiar with online dating through apps and I have heard of speed dating but have never attended any meet ups. Starting from the very appealing homepage with a user friendly interface their website is really simple to use and very straight forward. There is a range of online events to choose from on happening on different days of the week. You can choose the date that better suits your agenda and also select an specific age range of people you would like to connect with. All to make your experience as pleasant as possible and they did not let me down. Once you have these details sorted there is a very accessible fee charged and an email will be sent to you with log in and password to the virtual event. I couldn’t hide my excitement!

How convenient it is to socialise in the comfort of your own home especially after months away from family and friends? For some, online dating may seem unconventional but in such adverse times we all need to adjust and work with the tools we are offered. I was a bit unsure at first but once I logged in following the very clear instructions given by the organisers I relaxed.

I had the opportunity to talk to a few of the attendees and they were all extremely welcoming and friendly. They all had a similar opinion about their experiences with Date in a Dash. They all agree that the online meet ups are fun and the environment is very chilled. It is also very comforting to have the opportunity to meet people and socialise during lockdown.

Some of them told me they felt really sad and isolated when the first lockdown was implemented and connecting with people online was the perfect opportunity to keep social and have something exciting to look forward to amongst so much negativity.

It seems like life will be quite different for a little bit longer and we all have to work together to keep each other sane. Date in a Dash offers the perfect environment to meet people and make new friends and keep safe. There is absolutely no pressure of any sort and you just need a laptop or a phone, an open mind, a glass of your favourite drink and a positive energy to make the best of it and have a great time. I could not recommend it enough.
