When we first heard that schools were likely to close, the first thing I decided to stock up on to help us prepare for homeschooling was printer paper, and plenty of ink. Forget toilet paper shortages, a printer paper shortage would have been a big problem for us as our printer is such a key tool for homeschooling our four children.
I will share with you a few examples of resources that you can easily print off to help keep the kids entertained and educated until their school lessons are back up and running.
If you are low on ink, you can stock up at Cartridge Save, take a look at the HP Ink Cartridges which last really well, seeing you through all of the school closures.
Vikings are a fun part of history to learn about, and if you have a child in Year 3 or 4 at primary school like I do, then they may be learning about Vikings in school this year. The Viking Adventure activity book from Button Books / GMC Distribution looks like a great way to enhance and solidify their knowledge of vikings in a fun and hands on way.
The book is packed with over 100 different activities and games and includes 4 pages of stickers.
The pages are crammed with all sorts of fun, including puzzles, anagrams, maths, codes, spot the difference, colouring in and other engaging activities. Absorbing and educational, the Viking Adventure Activity Book features beautiful, bright illustrations
that will draw children in and keep them busy. And while they are enjoying the mazes, matching and counting, the
activities are helping them to develop a wide range of skills, including observational, conversational and motor skills. They’ll also find out more about the fascinating world of Vikings along the way.
Here are a few example pages of activities from The Viking Adventure Activity Book
We all need a little help keeping our kids busy during this stay-at-home period, and Bing has plenty to offer to help out families with this. As well as over 100 episodes available on iPlayer, Emmy award-winning and BAFTA nominated family favourite Bing offers pre-school children and families multiple ways to keep busy and entertained during this stay-at-home period. With activity sheets to download and games to play, Bing is helping families who will be spending more time together at home in the coming weeks. My preschooler is a big fan of Bing, so these have come in handy for us and I hope you find them useful too!
Bing Watch, Play, Learn App
This app is great when you want something fun and educational to entertain your little ones. I have been trying it out with my 3 year old, N, and we loved the variety of content – having multiple games, including colouring activities, memory match, dress up games and more, alongside the video content means that there is plenty included to keep it fresh. I also appreciate that there are no adverts, and the app is very easy to use
Sometimes while her older brothers are all doing online schooling on their laptops, my youngest wants to feel like she can join in too so playing a few educational games like these during that time is really nice for her.

The Live Action remakes that Disney have been making in recent years have been a huge hit in our house, and The Lion King was no different. Now this fantastic family film is out to watch at home, in digital or blu-ray / dvd so I’m sure we will be watching it again and again! If you did not see it in the cinema, then it’s definitely worth picking up a copy so that you don’t miss out.
In The LionKing, pioneering filmmaking techniques bring treasured characters to life in a whole new way. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother — and former heir to the throne — has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his. The all-star cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon.
To celebrate the home release of The Lion King, we have some fun activity sheets to share with you. My daughter and I had lots of fun colouring and doing these activities together before watching the movie (use the link at the bottom of this post to download the files)
The Lion King Colouring Pages
Enjoy colouring lots of scenes and characters from the movie The Lion King!
We are really loving the Live action remakes that Disney has been bringing out in recent years, and Aladdin was probably my favourite so far. If you didn’t see this movie in the cinema, then you need to get your hands on the home release. It’s such an entertaining, colourful and magical movie for the whole family. One of the highlights for me has to be the new Speechless song which was added for Princess Jasmine, bringing her character more up to date and giving her a more powerful voice – something which is really important when bringing up young girls who love Disney princesses like Jasmine. Will Smith’s performance as the Genie is also a huge highlight of the movie. As you would expect from Will Smith, he adds plenty of vibrant personality, humour and pizzazz.
To celebrate the home release of Disney’s Aladdin, we’re sharing with you some Aladdin colouring sheet downloads. So don’t miss those at the end of this post, and read on to find out more about the home release and some of the bonus content that will be included.
