Minions is out in cinemas today! For fans of Despicable Me and Despicable Me too, this third movie featuring Minions will be another chance to see their favourite little yellow guys in another fun family adventure. And for those who have been seeing Minion fever everywhere but are new to the movies, this is the perfect place to start since Minions takes you right back to the beginning of the minions story, which is cleverly done and I’m sure will be appreciated by many since you really don’t have to be familiar with the previous two movies to enjoy this one.
Disney’s newest live action movie Tomorrowland: A World Beyond starring George Clooney and Britt Robertson takes viewers on a journey into another dimension where Frank (Clooney) and Casey (Robertson) eventually discover that things are not as they seem. Each of them is transported to Tomorrowland through a tiny portal in a pin, they realise that they need to work together if they are to understand the secrets of Tomorrowland and save their own planet.
It’s well known that most people hate Mondays. That Sunday night feeling of having to get everything organised and go to sleep early to be ready for an early morning and a long week of work ahead is not normally a popular thing, especially if you don’t enjoy your job – or in the case of children if they’re not looking forward to going back to school for another week!
SpongeBob has a new song where he looks on the bright side about Monday, singing Thank Gosh it’s Monday, positivity Monday… so I thought I would join him in sharing the things that I love about Monday too.
I have to agree with SpongeBob that Mondays can be a great day of the week. I consider myself pretty lucky because I work from home, and am self employed so I am my own boss. That means I don’t have to make the dreaded Monday morning trudge into work, or take orders from anyone else. I can spend my Mondays working at home at the laptop with a nice cup of coffee (or several) and my favourite songs playing while I work, and since I’m at home I can dress as casually as I want so my Mondays are pretty relaxing.
After a couple of day break over the weekend and spending time recharging with the kids, I usually feel quite refreshed and recharged by Monday, and am ready to start the week again. This means that Monday tends to be my most productive day of the week.
As for the kids, they enjoy school and are always happy to see their friends again after the weekend so luckily for now they enjoy their Mondays too.

New SpongeBob Game : SpongeBob Hero Pants
Based on Nickelodeon’s incredibly popular animated TV series, SpongeBob HeroPants follows the events of Paramount Pictures’ animated/live-action film, The SpongeBob™ Movie: Sponge Out of Water, with an original storyripped from SpongeBob’s imagination. Pages of a magical tome have escaped into Bikini Bottom and someone is using them to unleash a nightmare of aquatic proportions, altering the very fabric of space and time along with it. SpongeBob must team up with his buddies – Patrick, Sandy, Squidward, Mr. Krabs and Plankton – to unleash their hidden powers and find these lost pages to save their hometown.
SpongeBob HeroPants is a third-person action platformer with a colourful blend of combat, traversal, exploration and puzzle-solving that makes it enjoyable and accessible for players of all ages. There are six playable characters to choose from, and each has the ability to transform into their uniquely fashioned superpowered champion from the movie to reach new heights and defeat the bad dreams plaguing Bikini Bottom. As the lost pages of the movie’s magical book plunges them into new eras in time, SpongeBob and his pals will have to upgrade their skills, survive boss battles and discover the secrets in altered versions of their town to find their way home again.
The game is available on Nintendo DS, Xbox 360 and PS3
We will be sent a copy of the game as a thanks for sharing our thoughts on Mondays #TGIM
As soon as my children saw the trailer for Dreamworks new movie, Home, they have been waiting eagerly to watch. I’m sure this one is going to be a big hit. I have to admit I’m keen to see it too!
We were excited to try out the new range of Home toys from Flair that have been created to go alongside the movie and bring the magic of the big screen to your own home. The range has a good variety of toys to suit everyone, many of them featuring the loveable character Oh.
One of the things we loved about Big Hero 6 is how the gang of heroes are all scientists, and rather than using guns they use science to create their super powers and fight their battles. All of the wonderful science projects they use in their lab remind children just how cool science can be.
If your children feel a renewed interest in science after watching the movie, why not grab that chance and fuel their interest with some simple science experiments that you can do at home. I’ll be sharing a few fun Big Hero 6 inspired science activities that were provided to me by Disney, I hope you enjoy them.
The first activity that I’m sharing today is Baymax’s rocket fist – a simple balloon rocket activity.
The Book of Life was released on DVD and Blu Ray last week and we took part in the Twitter viewing party along with several other families. We hadn’t seen this in the cinema so that was the first time we saw the movie, and the kids were well entertained by it. It was a relaxing way for them to spend their evening during half term.
If you haven’t had chance to catch the new Annie movie yet, it’s still in cinemas so it’s not too late. We really enjoyed it! You can read my Annie movie review here to find out more about the movie and what we loved about it.
If you have seen the movie already, you might be excited to know that we are giving away one Annie movie poster signed by Quvenzhané Wallis, AND 5 Annie Movie goodie bags to some lucky In The Playroom readers
One of the best things about the Annie Movie is the music. There are updated versions of the old classic songs from the original movie, plus some great new songs added to the new soundtrack too. You can clap along to some of the songs using some of these hand clapping ideas that have been put together.
To celebrate the release of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie on DVD, I have a great collection of TMNT printable activity sheets to share with you. We are really looking forward to watching this movie, since all of my boys are fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They love to watch the episodes on tv and play with their turtles figures often. If you have some little turtles fans too then I’m sure they will enjoy completing these activity sheets.
We love Big Hero 6. It’s definitely one of our favourite Disney movies. We’ve seen it in the cinema twice, and will be looking forward to getting it on DVD once it’s released. If you’re yet to see the movie, you might want to read our Big Hero 6 review, or if you’re already a fan and want to try out Honey Lemon’s Honeybee Cupcakes then read on for the recipe!

Playing with your child helps with their confidence, development and overall wellbeing. Many parents make the mistake of trying to take the control of how their child plays.
