If a summer holiday abroad isn’t in your budget this year, there’s no need to worry as the UK itself has plenty to offer instead. As an alternative to jetting off for a few weeks abroad, exploring England, Scotland and Wales can be just as much fun. With beaches, parks, tourist attractions, shopping centres and more destinations for brilliant days out with the family, not going abroad this summer doesn’t mean that you can’t have any fun. Liverpool
The vibrant city of Liverpool makes for an excellent family day out with plenty of things to see and do. Home of the iconic Beatles, if you’re a fan of this famous boyband you definitely won’t be disappointed with a visit to the city as there are plenty of Beatles-related attractions suitable for all the family. Mums and dads who love the Beatles will enjoy showing their kids around the different significant places in the Beatles Story, starting with the Albert Dock which is dedicated to the Fab Four. From Albert Dock, you and your family can also take the Magical Mystery Tour, a bus ride lasting two hours that visits a number of different Beatles-related landmarks including Strawberry Field and Penny Lane. Let’s not also forget the wide range of shopping outlets in Liverpool, making it the perfect city for shopping till you drop. And, parking in Liverpool is easier than ever with parking reservations available.
London
The capital city of London is one of the best places to visit in the UK if you’re looking for a day out that’s packed with culture and heritage. With a massive range of different attractions including the famous Buckingham Palace, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and the renowned British Museum to name just a few, you’ll definitely find it difficult to fit everything that there is to do in London into just one day out. But, with a whole range of family-friendly hotels to choose from, there’s no reason why you can’t make it into a longer stay! Kids will love the world-famous Madame Tussauds where you can see lifelike waxworks of all your favourite celebrities, and of course a visit to London wouldn’t be complete without a ride on the Iconic London Eye. Afterwards, you can take a river cruise down the Thames where you’ll get the best views of the iconic Tower Bridge and a whole range of other London attractions.
Scotland and the Highlands
If you’re planning a day out in the countryside, a visit to the Highlands of Scotland is a must. With vast fields, winding country roads and gorgeous waterfalls, the Highlands are home to some of the best locations for family picnics and exploring the wonders of nature. With plenty to see and do including working farms and rolling countryside making for some of the best family photos you’ll ever take, those looking for a peaceful day out with the family in the country will find this destination perfect.
