Strange noises
You might be familiar with that little click, gurgle and the occasional low hum that comes when your boiler kicks into life or when it’s working hard. However, there are some sounds that you certainly shouldn’t be hearing from your boiler. Vibrating sounds, the sound of dripping, loud (noticeable) humming and a whistling sound similar to a kettle – all of these sounds might mean you’re ready for a new boiler.
There’s no heat or hot water
If your boiler is struggling or completely failing to complete it’s most fundamental tasks, then it might be time for a new one. Broken valves, a lack of pressure, problems with your thermostat and just general wear and tear are some of the most common reasons behind no heat or hot water. You don’t have to put up with it. Look at investing in a new unit now, and you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.
A lack of pressure
If your boiler doesn’t have enough pressure, then your heating will suffer. Not the best scenario when you’re trying to keep the house warm in winter. Your radiators just don’t get hot
A lukewarm radiator is incredibly frustrating. Even more so at night time when you’re trying to keep your family warm as the temperature drops. How old is your boiler? Was it there when you bought the house? If your boiler is ten years or older, then it could be time for a new one. Sludge, limescale build-up, general wear and tear, every boiler succumbs to age eventually, and if you’re struggling to heat your home and enjoy hot water then it might be time for it to retire.
