Rainbow Hearts Handprint Craft
Create a vibrant Rainbow Heart craft to celebrate Pride Month with just paper, scissors, and glue! This easy and fun DIY project is perfect for all ages and a beautiful way to show your love and support for the LGB community.
Materials
- Colored construction paper (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Pencil
- Skin tone color paper for tracing hands (peach or shades of brown, whatever suits you best)
- Optional: large heart-shaped punches
Tools
- Scissors
- Optional - heart shape punches
Instructions
- Trace Your Hands. Place your hand on a piece of the skin toned paper which has been folded in half, and trace around it with a pencil. Make sure to place the hand near to the fold,
so that when unfolded you have two hands opened as shown. This unfolded handprint shape will be the base for your rainbow hearts to sit on. - Cut Out the Hand Shapes - Carefully cut out the traced hand shapes. Make sure to keep the wrists attached so that the hands stay connected at the base.

- Fold Colored Paper for Hearts - Take your colored construction paper and fold each piece in half. This will help in creating symmetrical hearts.
- Draw and Cut Out Hearts - Draw half-heart shapes along the fold of each piece of colored paper and cut them out. When you unfold the paper, you should have perfect heart shapes.

- Repeat this for all the colors of your rainbow. This craft used red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.

- Assemble the Rainbow Heart. Start with one color and glue one half of the heart to the next color of heart.
Continue adding and gluing hearts, overlapping slightly, to create a rainbow effect. Let each piece dry before adding the next one.
- Next, glue each end to the handprints and you'll have a beautiful 3d rainbow heart pattern, held in the palm of your hands.
Once all the hearts are glued and dry, your rainbow heart is complete! You can display it as a standalone piece or attach it to a card or poster.
Diversity is what makes our world vibrant and unique. Each color in the rainbow represents different aspects of the LGBTQ+ community, coming together to form a stunning display of diversity.
This simple craft serves as a reminder that our differences are something to be celebrated and embraced. Let’s teach the younger generation the importance of inclusivity and respect through creative activities like this one.
One of the best things about this rainbow heart craft is how easy and beautiful it is. With just a few basic supplies, you can create a stunning piece of art that speaks volumes.
This project is perfect for kids and adults, beginners and seasoned crafters alike. It’s a fun way to spend an afternoon and a meaningful way to show your support for Pride Month.
