Today we’ll talk you through how to make this easy farmhouse Christmas style Wooden Slice Rae Dunn Inspired Ornament.

This traditional love and joy wooden Christmas tree ornament will look gorgeous hanging on your Christmas tree this holiday season. They are also super cute to make as a little Christmas surprise for your friends and family.

These DIY holiday ornaments will look beautiful whether you use a real Christmas tree – a Norway spruce, a balsam fir, a pine tree or whichever you’ve chosen – or an artificial tree that you can use again each year.

These Christmas tree ornaments will look great with a classic red Christmas tree theme, but the best thing about this DIY craft project is that you can change up the colors of the ribbon you choose to make sure it matches perfectly with your own Christmas tree color scheme this year.

Supplies

To make this simple DIY farmhouse christmas ornament you’ll need to have the following craft supplies ready on hand

  • Wooden Slices (You can find an ornament kit with them on Amazon)
  • White acrylic paint
  • Foam brushes
  • Small pre-made bows (You can get them on Amazon, Walmart, Hobby Lobby, etc.
  • Rae Dunn Inspired Rub Off Decals (You can find them on Esty, Amazon, eBay, etc.)
  • Ruler 
  • Scissors  
  • Craft glue or hot glue gun  
  • Ribbon or twine

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1: 

Paint the front of the wooden slice using your white acrylic paint. Allow the first coat of paint to dry and paint one more coat.

Step 2:

Once both layers of the paint is completely dry, choose the word you want to use.

Line up the decal and using a credit card, rub it onto the painted side of the wood slice. Carefully peel the backing of the decal off the ornament.

Step 3:

Using the craft glue or glue gun, attach the bow to the top of the ornament.

Step 4:

Cut a 6” length of ribbon or twine, form a loop and using the craft glue or glue gun, attach to the top of the back side of the wood slice.  Allow the glue to dry completely before hanging.

That’s all there is to it. Easy right?! And the finished result looks beautiful.
