If you’re local to Newham, spare your pockets this summer by taking the kids to take part in hundreds of free summer activities that are being held across the borough’s parks through ParkLives – a partnership between Coca-Cola Great Britain and Newham Council.
There are 31 different completely free activities – ranging from rounders, tennis and yoga to parkour or freerunning, Dj-ing, family hula hooping and Bollywood dancing – taking place every day, so there will be no need to worry about filling the summer holidays or straining the family budget.
It’s a great way to keep the children entertained and active this summer, and maybe introduce them to some new sports that they might want to continue with after the summer is over. It’s great to have so much variety on offer to suit all children, and all ages.
The free sessions will be held between noon and 4.00pm, seven days a week throughout the summer holidays from Monday 27 July across the borough’s five main parks.
Each session will typically last around an hour and people can find a full schedule of the activities on offer and book a place by visiting www.parklives.com.
Parkfit session leader, Vicki Read, said:
“This summer we’re bringing some new quirky activities into the mix, offering everything from cheerleading to nostalgic family games, so there’s sure to be something to pique everyone’s interest. The sessions are designed to create a fun and encouraging environment so that anyone and everyone can get involved. We’re looking forward to welcoming new faces from across Newham – and remember, all our activities are free.”
ParkLives is part of Coca-Cola Great Britain’s commitment to invest £20m between now and 2020 in programmes to encourage and support people to be physically active. The initiative is delivered in the London Borough of Newham by Newham Council and the council’s leisure trust, activeNewham.
