Step-by-Step Guide to Drawing Your Ramadan Lantern
Here’s a quick rundown of what we’ll be doing – don’t forget to download your free PDF guide at the end of this blog post, so the kids can follow along at the table.
Here’s how we can break down the drawing into simple steps that you and the kiddos can follow along:

Start with the Basics: Begin by drawing two vertical lines parallel to each other. These will be the starting point for your lantern and will help you keep everything symmetrical.

Add the Top and Bottom: Connect the top of your lines with a horizontal line to close the top end, then add another horizontal line a bit below it to create the top of the lantern. Do the same at the bottom to form the base.

Shape the Lantern: Now, let’s give our lantern some body. Draw a curved dome on the top and a semi-circle at the bottom, joining them to the vertical lines. This will create the classic lantern shape we’re aiming for.

Frame It Up: Add rectangles within the top and bottom sections to make the frames of your lantern, giving it a sturdy look.

Detailing Time: It’s time to add those beautiful intricate details that lanterns are known for.

Final Touches: Now for the crowning glory—add a hook at the top by drawing a small loop. This is where your lantern would hang from.

Color It In: Lastly, bring your lantern to life with some color. Go for traditional golds, yellows, and reds, or let the kids choose their favorite colors. The choice is yours!
Shine Bright: Don’t forget to add some yellow and orange in the middle sections where the light would naturally be. It’ll make your lantern glow!

And there you have it! A beautiful, handmade Ramadan lantern drawing ready to add a touch of warmth and festivity to your home. Remember, the key to a great drawing session is to have fun, embrace imperfections, and enjoy the process of creating something together with your loved ones.
