Get ready for a spooky yet adorable Halloween craft that’s perfect for kids of all ages! Our rocking monster craft is super easy to make with just a few basic supplies, and it’s a fantastic way to keep little hands busy.
You can use any color you like for your monster – we went with purple, but green, orange, or even polka dots would look amazing too. This Halloween monster craft is great for a classroom activity, a Halloween party table, or just a fun afternoon at home.

Making monster crafts like this one also helps with fine motor skills, from cutting to gluing, so it’s a win for creativity and learning.
My kids had so much fun making these rocking monsters. They each picked their own colors – one went for green with sparkly horns, another decided on a bright orange monster with three eyes. It’s always amazing to see how different each one turns out, even when we all start with the same steps.
This craft kept us happily busy for a good half hour, which is always a win on a chilly autumn afternoon. We even lined up all our finished monsters on the windowsill so they could rock back and forth in the breeze it made the whole room feel more Halloween-ready.

Materials You’ll Need for your Halloween Monster Craft
For this Halloween monster craft, you don’t need anything fancy. We used regular construction paper in purple, white, and black, plus a glue stick and scissors. If you have foam sheets or googly eyes in your craft box, those are fun extras that make your monster pop. You can also use a paper plate for the body instead of construction paper if you want a sturdier rocking base.

Step-by-Step Instructions to make your Halloween Monster Craft
Follow along with the simple step by step instructions below to make your own spooky cute halloween monster craft in no time at all! This easy halloween craft is so much fun for toddlers, preschoolers, elementary school kids and beyond.
Halloween Monster Arts and Crafts Idea
Make a cute rocking Halloween monster craft with just paper, scissors, and glue – a simple and fun monster craft for kids this Halloween.
Materials
- Construction paper in your chosen monster color plus white and black for the eyes and mouth
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Optional: googly eyes or foam shapes for extra texture
Instructions
- Cut the main circle
Take a sheet of colored construction paper (we used purple) and cut out a large circle. This will be your monster’s body.
- Fold the circle
Fold the circle in half to create the rocking base. Make sure your fold is neat so your monster can rock back and forth easily.
- Cut another circle, and glue this to the front of the folded circle base

- Make the monster horns
Cut two smaller shapes that look a bit like lollipops or rounded rectangles for the horns.
- Glue one to each side at the top of the face circle.

- Cut the eyes and teeth
Use the white paper to cut a big circle for the eye and smaller triangles or oval shapes for the teeth. Then cut a smaller black circle for the inside of the eye and a large black oval or crescent for the mouth.
- Assemble the face
Glue the mouth onto the bottom part of the monster’s body, then add the teeth so they stick up into the mouth. Glue the big white eye in the center and place the black circle in the middle for the pupil.
- Add extra details
If you want your monster to look sillier or scarier, you can add more eyes, draw on eyebrows, or even use googly eyes for a wiggly look.
Tips and Variations
You can easily turn this into a classroom Halloween craft or a party activity by setting out different colors of paper and letting the kids create their own unique Halloween monsters. Add glitter, stickers, or foam shapes to give your monsters more personality.

It’s an easy monster craft that doesn’t need a printable template or any fancy supplies – just paper, scissors, and glue. Plus, it’s so much fun to see all the different monsters kids come up with as they design their own creatures of halloween.
