As Easter approaches, families around the world begin to embrace the joy and warmth that this season brings. While the allure of Easter eggs and bunnies captures the imagination of many, it’s also a profound opportunity to reconnect with the deeper significance of this time.

For those families seeking to blend the fun of Easter traditions with the richness of its true Christian meaning, I’ve created a special activity that promises to bring families closer to the heart of Easter.

Today, I’m excited to share with you our Easter Story Sequencing Cards – a unique, interactive way to engage with the Easter story.

The Easter Story and Its Significance

Before we get into the activity, let’s briefly revisit the Easter story and its importance.

Easter Week, or Holy Week, commemorates the final week of Jesus Christ’s life, culminating in His resurrection.

This period includes significant events such as Palm Sunday, when Jesus entered Jerusalem; Maundy Thursday, marking the Last Supper; Good Friday, when Jesus was crucified; and Easter Sunday, celebrating His resurrection.

These events are central to Christian faith, symbolizing hope, renewal, and the promise of eternal life.

Beyond the eggs and bunnies lies a story of love, sacrifice, and triumph that has resonated through the ages, offering a message of hope and renewal to all.

While the young kids keep busy with this cut and paste activity, the older ones may like these religious easter notebooking printables.

To bring this profound story to life for children and families, we’ve created a set of Easter Story Sequencing Cards.

These cards are designed to help kids understand the sequence of events that make up the Easter story, making it more relatable and engaging.

How to Use the Easter Story Sequencing Printable

To use this activity, print out the cards which are available in the free printable PDF file below. Print on cardstock for more durable cards, or print on regular printer paper to use these for a cutting and sticking activity.

Cut out each of the 9 cards along the dotted lines, and you’re ready to go.

You can simply have the kids arrange the cards in order, while talking about the Easter story, or provide a larger piece of paper and a glue stick and have them stick down each of the pictures to create a time line of Easter week.

Tip: For younger kids who are just starting with sequencing activities, remove some of the cards and work with just 3 or 4 of the main parts of the story to make this activity more accessible for young learners.

For older kids, you can have them write their own explanation of the easter story to go along with the pictures, as a writing practice.

Let’s take a closer look at the images depicted on these cards:
