How to Make an Easy Ramadan Lantern Card
Materials List
- Free printable lantern template (provided in PDF format – download at the end of this blog post)
- 2 pieces of white card stock
- Colored paper or tissue paper
- Scissors
- Optional: markers, stickers, or glitter for decoration
- Glue
Step-by-Step Guide

- Begin by downloading the free printable lantern template provided. Print it out on a piece of sturdy paper to serve as your crafting guide.
- Choose a variety of colored construction paper or cardstock that you would like to use for your lantern design. Think vibrant colors that represent the joy and celebration of Ramadan.
- Carefully cut out the lantern shape from the template. This will be used as the stencil for your card’s main feature.
- Trace the lantern shape onto one of the pieces of cardboard, which will be used for the front of your card, and cut it out leaving empty space for your chosen colored papers to show through.
- Next cut out pieces from the colored paper. You will need to cut out several pieces to create a colorful mosaic effect.
- Once you have all your colored lantern pieces, begin to glue them onto the second piece of cardstock, arranging them so that they will be enough to fill the lantern shape. Overlap the pieces slightly to create a woven, interlocking pattern.

Glue the lantern shape pieced of cardstock onto the front colored piece of cardstock to complete the design.

After the basic lantern card is complete, you can add additional decorations if you desire. Use markers to draw patterns, or add a touch of sparkle with stickers or glitter.
Write a personal message inside the card or on the front of the card above the lantern shape, sharing your Ramadan wishes or a thoughtful note. You could write Ramadan mubarak or Ramadan Kareem, or if you’re looking for more ways to say happy Ramadan then check these ideas.
Share your handmade lantern card with someone special, spreading the spirit of Ramadan through this personal and creative touch.
