Pumpkin Turkey Craft

Active Time: 20 minutes
Difficulty: Easy

Make these super cute mini pumpkin turkeys for your Thanksgiving center piece. They are so easy to make with the kids, and will look absolutely adorable.

Materials

  • Mini Pumpkin
  • Googly Eyes
  • Faux Autumn Leaves
  • Red and orange colored card stock or construction paper

Tools

  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Sticky tape
  • Mini Tape measure
  • Ruler

Instructions

  1. Take your mini pumpkin and measure the circumference all the way around to see what length you will need to cut from your card stock to create the band around the Pumpkin.
  2. You can do this by using the mini tape measure and then carefully mark out the right size onto the orange cardstock using a pencil and ruler. Alternatively, you can do this by eye if you prefer and cut to shortern as needed.
  3. You want this main band to be a snug fit onto the turkey as this keeps everything in place. Wrap the card around, and tape at the back.
  4. Draw your turkey's head shape onto the beige color cardstock. This can be done free hand, it's just a rounded rectangle shape, a little wider at the top than the bottom.
  5. Cut out the turkey's head and glue down two googly eyes, a small red triangle for the beak, and a red tongue for your Turkey. These shapes can all be cut freehand from your red and orange colored construction paper.
  6. To glue down, you can use any glue of your choice - a gluestick, white school glue, or a glue gun. A glue gun will always give you the strongest adhesion if you want the turkey to be very long lasting for your thanksgiving decor.
  7. Next, attach the turkey's head by apply glue to the bottom of the turkey's face (front) and the back of the first band we cut and taped around the middle of the pumpkin.
  8. Cut two identical wing shapes from the orange card. If you prefer you can fold a little piece back from the bottom of each wing to create a tab, and use this to attach both of them to the band, one on each side of the turkey.
  9. Next, take your craft leaves, and arrange into a fan shape to create the Turkey's feather tail. Glue your leaf arrangement to the back of the pumpkin, tucked into the first band.
  10. Your pumpkin turkey is done!
