Turn simple cupcake liners into adorable turkeys with this easy Thanksgiving craft for kids! Perfect for classrooms, family gatherings, or a cozy afternoon at home.

Materials

  • Colorful cupcake liners (any patterns or colors you like)
  • Jumbo popsicle sticks
  • Glue stick or craft glue
  • Scissors
  • Markers or pens
  • Colored paper (orange, red, yellow for beak and wattle)
  • Googly eyes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Flatten a cupcake case, then fold it in half so it becomes a neat semicircle. This will be the turkey’s fan of tail feathers.
  2. Want a fuller tail? Fold a second cupcake case the same way and layer it behind or slightly offset on the first, gluing just along the flat edge.
  3. Add feather details. Use markers or paint pens to draw stripes, dots, and zigzags on the cupcake cases if not using patterned cases. Let dry for a minute.
  4. Lay a jumbo popsicle stick vertically. This will be the turkey’s body and neck.
Run a thin line of glue along the flat edge of the folded cupcake case and press it to the back, near the top of the stick so the feathers fan out behind the “head.”
  5. Cut a small triangle from orange or yellow paper for a beak and a teardrop from red paper for the wattle.
  6. Glue the beak and wattle near the top of the stick.
  7. Add eyes. Either glue on two googly eyes or draw eyes with a marker.
  8. Finish with details. Draw little feet at the bottom of the stick, add a name on the handle if you’re using it as a place card, or stick a magnet dot on the back for fridge display. Let everything dry before playing or displaying.
