Hopping Paper Cup Turkey Craft

Create a playful hopping turkey with bouncy legs, colorful tail feathers, and googly eyes! This fun Thanksgiving craft is perfect for little hands and sure to bring giggles to your holiday celebrations. This fun fall craft is a great opportunity to get creative, strengthen kid's little hands and have a wonderful time

Materials

  • Yellow paint and a paintbrush
  • Construction paper in various colors
  • Paper cups (two per turkey)
  • Glue stick
  • Marker
  • Googly eyes
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Paint the Body
    Start by painting a paper cup yellow. Let it dry completely.
  2. Step 2: Create the Legs
    Take another paper cup and cut four sides at the bottom to form the turkey’s legs.
  3. Paint the legs yellow and add a darker yellow at the tips for contrast. Allow it to dry fully before moving on.
  4. Step 3: Make the Tail Feathers
    Cut three half circles of different sizes from construction paper.
  5. To add texture, cut small triangles along the curved edges of each half circle.
  6. Layer and glue them together, then attach them to the back of the body cup.
  7. Step 4: Add the Face
    Cut out a triangle for the beak and red dangly shape for your turkey. You can use our free printable template to get these shapes then trace them onto the colored construction paper. and cut them out again.
  8. Attach the two pieces together and glue it to the front of the body cup.
  9. Add googly eyes above the beak to give your turkey a playful personality.
  10. Step 5: Make the hopping mechanism
    Cut a long strip of construction paper and fold it alternately to create an accordion shape.
  11. Attach these folded strips to the top of the second cup, which has the legs
  12. Step 6: Assemble the Turkey
    Finally, attach the legs to the body cup and secure the tail feathers at the back. Your hopping turkey is now ready to bounce around!
