A couple of weeks ago, we went along to Wembley Arena to watch Disney on Ice Silver Anniversary Celebration. This has to be one of our favourite Disney on Ice shows so far, it is really lovely and includes a great mix of the classic Disney characters along with more the recent Frozen.
The show opens with a dance inspired by the popular Disneyland ride “It’s a Small World” which is magical, then Mickey and Minnie come out onto the ice and introduce the Lion King story, which was one of our favourite parts. My boys love the Lion King characters, and I always enjoy the Lion King songs which are featured in the show – they work so well transformed into ice dancing.
After The Lion King, comes a section on The Little Mermaid, which is so colourful and entertaining with all of the under the sea creatures.
We have seen 4 or 5 Disney on Ice shows now, and although they may include some of the same stories from show to show (and so inevitably, some of the same songs) there are always a few bits that are changed up, so you’ll get slightly different aspects and features, and won’t feel like you’re watching the same show again. Every time, it’s kept different enough and still feels exciting and keeps the whole family entertained.
With Disney on Ice Silver Anniversary Celebration, Feld Entertainment have chosen some of the strongest elements from the previous shows to make this a Disney on Ice show that really impresses.
After the interval, the show continues with Peter Pan which sees characters flying across the ice, and a boat skating across the stage, along with a giant crocodile.
Finally, it’s time for the Frozen section which is a fantastic end to the show. Both the Peter Pan and Frozen sections are quite detailed, with the full stories being told along with the songs.
Frozen includes plenty of songs from the movie, including classics love Love is an Open Door
Of course the highlight for many is Let it Go, which is performed beautifully. Elsa’s costume when she transforms into her ice queen dress is gorgeous!
