You can get Itty Bittys to tie in with some of the most popular and iconic film characters and we decided to use the Wizard of Oz set to make our own cardboard scene. The Wizard of Oz was one of my favourite movies as a child, and I love introducing my kids to movies and characters that I always enjoyed.
The quartet of fearless friends from the Wizard of Oz includes Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin man and Cowardly lion. My boys were immediately taken with the characters, in their cute Itty Bitty forms, and decided that Tin Man is their favourite.

To set up our Wizard of Oz scene, we gathered together our Itty Bittys along with a shallow cardboard box, some old cardboard tubes, coloured tissue paper, cotton wool, glue, glitter and paint.
We decided to make a simple scene showing the Emerald City, and of course the Yellow Brick Road leading towards it.
First, we painted the background of the box blue for the sky using acrylic paint to get good coverage in just one coat. Then, T drew out a rainbow and sun which we cut out to stick in the sky, and added cotton wool for clouds.
Next, we cut up our cardboard tubes to different heights and glued emerald green tissue paper to cover them, to look like the Emerald city.
We glued more green tissue paper to the bottom of the box to make some grass, and drew out a yellow brick road with a sharpie on to some yellow tissue paper, and stuck this on.
Our scene was nearly ready for our Itty Bittys.. we stuck down the Emerald City, and then just added a few sprinkles of glitter, and Itty Bittys were ready to see their new home!
Don’t they look cute? My kids had lots of fun making their Wizard of Oz scene, and playing with their Itty Bittys too.
There are also some other great ranges of Itty Bittys available, including…
Scooby Doo
With Shaggy and Scooby Doo
Santa and Rudolph festive Itty Bittys
Superheroes from the Justice League
With Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. Batman is our favourite – he is simply adorable!
Which of the Itty Bitty ranges is your favourite? I’m sure we will be making plenty more scenes and cardboard houses to display the rest of our collection!
