When you have children living in your home, you may want to create a positive environment that can allow your children to play, learn, and explore their identities.

By planting hedges in your garden, you may be able to make your garden more suitable for your children to spend time in.

This can incorporate both concerns you may have about safety, as well as the things they see and hear within the space.

When doing so, you could choose to border your entire garden, or have only a few hedges as statement pieces.

Prevent escape

Younger children may not understand the importance of staying safe and within the property boundaries.

Even those who are a bit older may not realise that the world outside of the home can be rather dangerous, especially if you live near a main road.

Using pre-grown instant hedges for your garden could help to contain your children, and pets as well, within the confines of your home.

These may be hedges that have been grown in pots for a prolonged period of time.

Due to this, they may be somewhat hardier than saplings, and also be more of the right size to prevent your children from slipping past and out into the open.

Spotting wildlife in your garden

Having hedging present in your garden can also be a great way of encouraging wildlife to visit, or even live there.

This may be due to their ability to provide cover from the elements, and even a reasonably safe place to hide from potential predators.

You could use the hedging as an opportunity to teach your children how to respect and look after wild animals.

As an example, when you spot the signs that hedgehogs live within your hedges, you may then want to think about how your family could protect them from harm and even contribute towards their welfare.

They may have been less likely to visit your garden prior to the installation of those hedges.

Create a better environment

Many parents might be worried about the state of the world and how the planet may fare in the future.

You may then want to do your part to try and protect the planet. One of the ways of doing this can be through the planting of hedges.

This can help to lower your carbon footprint and produce more oxygen. This way, your garden may be more likely to last for many years, and even still be a great place to spend time with your grandchildren.

Particularly in cities or excessively built-up areas, having a bit of greenery present, and a link to nature, may also help your children to feel happier when out in the garden.

A child-friendly garden can be created using hedging. When doing so, you may want to plan out which hedges are planted to maximise the amount of wildlife that ventures into your space, as well as the privacy and security they can give to your home.
