My boys are always keen to try out new apps and games on our iPad. Recently I heard about some new apps from Audois & Alleuil which are popular in France and have now been released in the UK. We were given the chance to try them out and for one lucky In The Playroom reader to win free downloads of these apps too.
The Poppin Princess & SOS Dinos in distress are both story book apps which are highly interactive with plenty of little games included throughout the pages. The first thing that struck me is the illustration style, they are very beautifully presented with lots of little details.
SOS Dinos in distress is a story all about Thaddeus Getsit-Wright a small boy genius who is hunting to find out the secret of why the dinosaurs disappeared. The story is fairly detailed and long, so I would say this is aimed at age 4 years+ and not suitable for younger toddlers, and the language would be too challenging for a younger child too. Mr Z read the story with me and enjoyed the games within the app.
Both stories include plenty of humour to keep the children entertained. The stories can be read in English or French and both versions are included in the same app, so if your child is learning French then this would be brilliant!
The Poppin Princess is all about a royal families hunt for the perfect princess to marry their prince. They set challenges for the hopeful princesses and but the princess who is selected by the prince is not the most usual choice!
I really liked how the children can get involved with each page, moving thing around within the story or even putting make up on the princesses. These interactive elements make the books a lot more fun and engaging!
