These 3d photo frames are a really simple idea that we made recently for the boys playroom.
To make these we used deep frames from Ikea (Ribba frame, from 3.50), since they have space to add additional items in front of the picture.
I chose 3 pictures of my boys, one for each frame. Then we put coloured paper behind each one to add a bit more colour, and filled the front of the frame with a variety of coloured feathers, stars, pom poms and sequins. You could use anything really! We chose these things because it’s so bright and colourful, and they enjoy doing crafts so it reflects that in a playful way – plus we always have craft supplies to spare!
We left the items loose, so when you shake or move the frame, they move around. This will give more potential to switch it up in future, if we fancy a change. If you want something permanent, you could easily make a fixed design and glue the pieces in place.
Here you can see the full effect on the shelf. It adds a nice splash of colour, and gives a unique touch to the playroom. It works well with the children’s creations which are displayed alongside.
As seen above, top to bottom: my children’s glittery clay pot, decorated acorn, and clay painted dinsaur 🙂
The shelf is also from Ikea – Ribba Picture ledge.
Now I just need to find somewhere to display my 3 year old’s Mr Tumble signed certificate which was previously on that shelf!
