If your kids love silly monsters, this printable roll and draw game is such a fun way to get them creating their own unique monster. It’s a simple activity that works perfectly for a rainy day, at Halloween parties, in art class, or just as a fun game at home. With a monster theme that sparks creativity, this one is always a huge hit with younger kids and elementary students alike.

My daughter absolutely loves these roll and draw games, and honestly, I can see why. Every time she rolls the dice, there’s this burst of excitement to see which type of monster body part she gets to add next. Sometimes her monsters end up with three horns, or really wiggly legs, and it always makes her laugh. It’s such a fun way to let kids relax, be silly, and just enjoy the process of creating without any pressure to make it “perfect.”
What I also like about this monster activity is that it works just as well when she plays by herself as when we sit down together as a family. When cousins come over, it turns into a group monster drawing game and the kids compare their silly monsters at the end. It’s such a great way to keep everyone busy at Halloween parties or even just on a rainy day afternoon when we need something quick and fun. These dice drawing games always bring out so much creativity, and the best part is how simple it is to set up.

How to Play the Roll and Draw Monster Game
The printable comes with everything you need for this monster dice game. Start by printing, cutting, folding, and gluing the Monster Dice template together. Once your dice is ready, you’re set to play!
There are two ways to play. You can either use the row at the top of the sheet or the row at the side of the sheet.

For the most simple method, each roll of the dice tells you which monster parts to add:
- Roll 1 = body
- Roll 2 = arms
- Roll 3 = legs
- Roll 4 = face
- Roll 5 = horn
- Roll 6 = extras
After each roll, draw the monster shape or body part you landed on, and use the number you rolled to pick which shape or type of body part you’ll use.
So for the first roll you’re working on the body, if you roll a 6 then you’ll use the snowman shape shown under the number 6, and so on.
Keep rolling and adding details until your monster is complete.
The other method is to roll the dice, and use the numbers on the side so if you roll a 3 you’ll add legs of your choice. If you roll another 3, you can add a 2nd pair of legs. This version gets crazier results. Try both ways and see what works for you!
Either way, once you’ve completed all of the body parts, then comes the best part – kiddos get to color and decorate the monster in different ways to make it into their own unique monster.
Finally, show and tell! Kids can share their monster and explain its features, which adds even more monster fun.

What’s Included in the Roll and Draw Monster Pack
Inside the printable pack you’ll find everything you need for this monster dice game. There’s the Roll and Draw a Monster instruction page with clear steps, plus the Monster Dice template that you can cut, fold, and glue together.

You’ll also get draw pages labeled “My Monster” where kids can create their own monster based on their dice rolls.

The pack is designed to be simple but full of monster fun, giving kids the chance to roll dice, add monster parts, and then decorate their very own unique monster.

This monster drawing game is a great activity for classroom use, birthday parties, small groups, or even as part of Halloween party lesson plans.
Learning Benefits of Roll and Draw Games
Roll and draw activities are more than just silly fun. They encourage number recognition as kids match their dice rolls with the monster parts. Drawing and coloring helps improve fine motor skills, and the creative process supports critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
This printable game can also be adapted for occupational therapy, art class, or speech therapy since it gets kids talking about their creations in fun and imaginative ways.
It’s a simple activity but also a great way to add spooky fun into English language arts or 1st grade math lesson plans, since dice drawing games naturally combine art with numbers.
With so much fun built into one printable, it’s easy to see why this monster activity is such a huge hit.
Ages This Monster Drawing Game Works Best For
This draw game is flexible and works well for younger kids all the way through elementary students. PreK through 1st or 2nd grade will probably get the most excitement, but older kids can enjoy it too – especially at classroom parties or Halloween excitement with friends. Since it’s open-ended, everyone can design their own monster and play at their own level.
