What is the Ramadan Gratitude Jar?

The Ramadan Gratitude Jar is a simple, yet powerful activity that encourages kids to recognize and write down the things they are thankful for during Ramadan.

It’s an engaging way to nurture thankfulness and positivity in our children, fostering a habit that can continue to benefit their well-being long after Ramadan ends.

How Does It Work?

Print the Jar

We have two versions for you to choose from: a vibrant, pre-colored jar ready to be filled with gratitude or a black and white version that invites the additional creativity of coloring.

Find a Quiet Moment

Each day, or as often as you like, take a moment with your child to think about the blessings in your lives. What made them smile today? What are they thankful for? This can become a cherished part of your Ramadan routine, maybe after iftar or before bedtime.

Write It Down

Right on the printable gratitude jar, your child can write down what they’re grateful for. We’ve provided an example with heartfelt entries like “my family”, “good food”, and “my home” to get you started.

But there’s no limit—big or small, every blessing counts!

Fill the Jar

Place these words inside the jar. As the month progresses, watch as your jar fills with the wonderful things that make your life special. It’s a visual and interactive way to count your blessings!

If you chose to use a real mason jar for the activity, then write each thing on a slip of paper and place them inside the jar, otherwise just keep filling up the page.

Share and Reflect

At the end of Ramadan, or even on Eid, sit together and empty the jar. Read out loud all the things you’ve been thankful for. It’s a lovely way to reflect on the past month and appreciate the abundance of joy in your lives.
