Handprint Monster Craft

Handprint Monster Craft

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Active Time: 20 minutes
Difficulty: Easy

Transform your little one's handprints into adorable and quirky monsters with this fun and easy craft. Perfect for a rainy day or any creative moment, this activity will have your kids laughing and imagining as they create their very own unique monsters. Grab some paint, googly eyes, and let the monster-making magic begin!

Materials

  • Non-toxic paint (various colors)
  • Paper or cardstock
  • Googly eyes
  • Markers or crayons
  • Glue
  • Little hands ready to get messy!

Tools

  • Printer for the template

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Workspace: Cover your crafting area with newspaper or an old tablecloth to protect surfaces from paint spills. Have all your supplies ready and within reach, and print out the monster templates.
  2. Paint the Hands: Choose your paint colors and pour them onto a plate. Let your child dip their hand into the paint, making sure the entire hand is covered, or paint directly onto the hands. This will be the base of your handprint monster.
  3. Make the Handprints: Gently press the painted hand onto the paper, ensuring a good imprint of all the fingers and palm. Lift the hand carefully to avoid smudging. Allow the paint to dry completely.
  4. Add the Googly Eyes: Once the paint is dry, it's time to bring your monsters to life! Glue on monster faces, arms and legs from our printable template, or add googly eyes – the more, the merrier. You can add one big googly eye for a cyclops monster or several smaller ones for a multi-eyed creature.
  5. Decorate Your Monster: As well as our printable templates, you can use markers or crayons to add mouths, teeth, and other fun details to your monsters. Let your kids' imaginations run wild. They can draw wacky hair, sharp fangs, or even friendly smiles.
  6. Display Your Art: Find a special place to display your child's handprint monsters. The fridge door, a bedroom wall, or even a dedicated craft board are perfect spots to showcase their creations.
