May Half Term Fun

Half term is coming to an end, and this time it has been a quiet one for us. We quite often go abroad during the May half term, but this year we decided to stay home and although we have had a couple of days out to the beach and farm, and visiting with family and friends, some of our best days have been spent at home in our own garden.

The kids have been spending hours outside running about, climbing, playing football and blowing bubbles, and the weather has mostly been gorgeous!

We’ve recently discovered a new drink that’s great for the kids whether at home or on a day out and has been a firm favourite with all of them during half term. Yazoo No Added Sugar is flavoured milk that comes in individual 200ml bottles with attached straws, and comes in three different flavours – chocolate, strawberry or banana. Chocolate is the #1 with my boys, and my littlest one is keen on the banana and strawberry varieties.

These drinks are really nice to give them a little energy boost while they’re busy playing, and are healthier than I had thought. With no added sugar at all, they only contain the sugar that was naturally within the milk and are only 96 calories per bottle (which is not bad if you are tempted to have one yourself too!)

The taste of the Yazoo No Added Sugar is really nice, and I’m sure that my boys and their friends haven’t even realised that this is a “no added sugar” product as the taste is no different from Yazoo they’ve drunk in the past.

With the three different flavours and the individual bottles, they are really handy for playdates and work really well for throwing in a bag to take down the park too. My boys can run up and down playing football non stop for hours! They are always thirsty afterwards!

We’ve really enjoyed our quiet half term week, and it seems to have flown by in a flash. I’m looking forward to lots more outdoor fun now that Summer seems to have finally arrived, and the long six week summer holidays will be here before we know it.

  1. I do love Yazoo. It’s brilliant for taking away because it’s not fizzy, but it doesn’t need to be stored in the fridge. Much better for your tummy than pop.

I am not a huge fan of artificial sugar, so I’ll check it out and see what they’ve replaced it with – why doesn’t anyone just ‘reduce the sugar’, rather than replace it? I’m sure we’d quickly get used to it. I dread to think how salty McDonald’s fries were when I was a kid, but we got over that šŸ˜€
