My boys love to bake with me. Some days we have plenty of time and can spend an while to make something from scratch but other days a super quick and easy solution is just what I need. I decided to get some Jus Rol Pain au Chocolate for a nice easy baking project for them to do after school. They love pain au chocolat so it made a real treat for them and they really enjoyed eating the end result! I have to say, these look pretty great for being made by a 2 year old, a 4 year old and a 5 year old don’t you think?
Actually the pack does make six, and some of the others were not quite as neat and tidy but still I was pretty impressed with their work. The pain au chocolat looked and tasted great.
With the Jus Rol pain au chocolat, the cardboard packaging contains a tin which you rip open to reveal the pain au chocolat dough. You can then rip this into 6 equally sized pieces. It’s already marked for you where to rip so this is as easy as can be, even for children.
You then place two sticks of chocolate onto each piece of pain au chocolat dough, and then fold both sides towards the centre.
All of the boys really enjoyed this. It’s great that its so simple so they can feel that they have accomplished it all by themselves.
Once the pain au chocolat are all rolled up properly, then you just place the tray in the oven on gas mark 5 for around 12 minutes or until they are golden brown. Easy peasy, and very delicious!

We’ve used the Jus Rol Croissants before and even sometimes put chocolate chips in them! I didn’t know they did pain au choc though, will keep a lookout! x
I tell you what, I’m going to get out my JusRoll pastry and make some bigger and better than yours now! 😀
Wow these look so yummy and I love chocolate! Funny story…last year when I visited the east coast on the plane I met this Indian couple and they had these puffs that had a succulent chicken spice filling and it was amazing! These reminded me of that 🙂
My eldest would die for these. ‘Chockwit’ is one of her favourite things and they have occasionally been allowed chocolate pastries – making her own would be on another level. She’s three so the perfect age too! Thanks for sharing – I shall have to keep an eye out for these.
I’ve never even thought about making these, but I will now 🙂 x
Oh this is easy, just my sort of thing. I love pain au chocolat – it reminds me of holidays in France.
These look fab, perfect for little people to make too! I’m a big fan of Jus Rol, life is far too short to make your own pastry!
Yum Yum, I must see if I can get these in my local supermarket as my daughter would love making (and eating) these.
We use the croissants quite often, make for a quick and easy treat 🙂 #MiniCreations
This looks yum! I love pain au chocolat!
Thanks for sharing this receipe with us, tried it and it is quick, easy and delicious
This looks easy peasy and loads of fun – I had no idea that cheaty pain au chocolats existed! No I do, there’ll be no stopping me…
I’ve not thought of ready packs – might have to try this with Monkey.
Never seen this before, though have tried adding chocolate to croissants and microwaving! Will look out for it.#Recipeoftheweek.
I have bought a couple of Jus roll products and particularly like the croissants. These look fun to make and very yummy!
wow my fave ever! It looks so easy and I think kids eat food more if they made it. Will definitely try this! #MiniCreations
We bought some of these when they were on off recently and loved them
these look great – definitely going to try these with the kids!
When you said “easy” i was thinking i bet its hard, my kids will tell you I burn Salad. I am not a natural cook, but this looks like something I could do. 😉
I LOVE this idea. My favorite part is how tiny hand friendly it is… even my three year old could do it. Rolling the dough is great for fine motor skills too so that is always a bonus 😉
My girls absolutely love pain au chocolate. Now i have to try and make them at home like you instead of buying them from the pastry shop!

I’m made these before too and I was quite impressed with how they turned out. Yours look great.

I really didn’t know that Jus Rol did pain-au-chocolate, I’ll have to look out for those. I love Jus rol puff pastry and use it all the time, I really don’t have the patience to make puff pastry myself and it never turns out right. Well done to your little ones for making such delicous looking pastries, I hope they saved me one 😉

How simply and fun those are! My baby girl (2 yrs old) is sat on my lap right now pointing to your yummy photos saying ‘want some’. So i guess we’ll need to be making some of those soon. x #kidsinthekitchen
