How to make a Shamrock Handprint Craft (or a four leaf clover!)

So, here is a simple craft that is easy and inexpensive, that kids will love and it makes for a great St Patrick’s Day gift. Let’s get started!

Today, we are going to give you the easy, step-by-step instructions of how to make the most awesome kids’ crafts using only a few household items: Shamrock Handprint crafts!

First, have the kids paint their hands in the green paint.

This can get messy and is lots of fun for kids of all ages!

Carefully place hands down to stamp the handprint patterns onto your paper or card to create a shamrock formation as you can see below.

To make the handprint, you will need three handprints placed at 90 degree angles to each other.

Once your three handprints are in place, use a paint brush to finish off the Shamrock with a green stem.

For an optional extra, you can sprinkle some gold glitter on top of your handprint shamrock picture for good luck! So pretty! The kids little handprints will look so cute.

For a meaningful keepsake, with three children get them to make one special handprint shamrock together by using one handprint per child.

Adapt this craft for younger kids

If you have young kids who want to go crazy with the handprints all over the page, and don’t want to follow the shamrock shape formation – that is okay! Let them go crazy and experiment with the paint to their heart’s content. I have an easy hack for you to try.

Once your toddler has finished stamping green handprints all over the page, find some handprints that are clearly defined and cut out three handprints together, using toddler safe scissors.

You can then arrange these handprints onto a new piece of paper and glue them down to create the Shamrock handprint craft together. If you leave a white outline around the handprints, then this will look great glued down onto green paper.

Hand Print Four Leaf Clover

Want to make a lucky four leaf clover craft instead of a traditional shamrock, just add one more handprint leaf and you’ve got your lucky clover. It is so easy!

What is the meaning of Shamrocks for St. Patrick’s Day?

So you’re making this simple and fun St. Patrick’s Day craft with the kids, and the children would like to know – what have Shamrocks got to do with St Patrick’s Day?

The significance of Shamrocks is that they are a famous symbol of Ireland, known all around the world. The shamrock is the emblem of St. Patrick, the patron St. of Ireland and the person who this traditional holiday is all about!

So are clovers and shamrocks the same thing? A shamrock is a type of three leaf clover. Four leaf clovers are seen to be lucky because they are more rare to find.
