Halloween is approaching again, and as parents, we all know what that means: costume shopping, pumpkin carving, and the big debate of which movie are we watching tonight? My daughter is 8 now, and she’s a total softie.

Even when I think a movie is absolutely fine for her age, she might still hide under the blanket. I loved Corpse Bride, but I’m not sure she’ll like it just yet.
And don’t even get me started on Frankenweenie, I thought it would be a great idea one year, but she ended up crying her eyes out, and I regretted it instantly.
On the other hand, Hotel Transylvania will forever be a hit in our house. I am honestly obsessed with it, and so is she since she was little. It’s so cute and funny, and the dynamics are complex but shown in such a lovely, understandable way.

If you’re looking for the best toddler Halloween movies to enjoy with your little kids (and older ones too), here’s a list of family-friendly picks that capture the spirit of Halloween without being too scary.
Think of it as the perfect mix of gentle humor, magical worlds, and heartwarming stories. This time of year is such a great opportunity to make cozy memories together as a family.
Here are my top 10 friendly Halloween movies, plus a few short favorites at the end, all available on streaming platforms like Amazon Prime or Apple TV.
1. Curious George: A Halloween Boo Fest

This is one of the sweetest options for younger kids. George’s curiosity leads him into a lighthearted Halloween adventure full of silly surprises, pumpkins, and that gentle humor toddlers adore. It feels like autumn in a cup of warm cocoa.
2. Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie

Every time I watch this, I’m reminded how little Roo is just the right mix of brave and cautious, like so many of our own toddlers. This one has a positive message about courage and friendship, perfect for the whole family.
3. The Addams Family (Animated Version)

A perfect movie for little kids who want a taste of spooky fun without any real horror vibes. The Addams Family might be creepy and kooky, but they’re also full of love, loyalty, and hilarious family chaos.
4. Hocus Pocus

A true cult classic. While it’s better suited for slightly older kids, even the younger ones can enjoy the playful energy of the Sanderson Sisters played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy. It’s a must-watch during the Halloween season and a great excuse to rewatch it every year, just like we do.
5. Hotel Transylvania

This animated film is packed with fun monsters, silly jokes, and a heartwarming story about family. It’s perfect for a Halloween night in, especially for a young boy or young girl who loves a mix of laughter and adventure.
6. Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit

A clever dark comedy with gentle humor that appeals to both kids and adults. It’s a perfect movie to introduce toddlers to a little mystery and suspense without anything too scary.
7. Monster House

This is one of my favourites films ever! Can’t get my daughter to even consider it but I love it. The whole storyline is so fascinating to me and I think is so thrilling but she has no interest so I watch it on my own. For slightly older kids, this animated adventure adds a touch of excitement while keeping things on the friendly side of spooky. The main characters, a group of kids, try to uncover the secret of a real-life haunted house, and it’s such a fun ride.
8. The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad

This Disney classic includes Sleepy Hollow, the story of the pumpkin king of Halloween Town, and it’s surprisingly toddler-friendly when watched with a parent nearby. It’s a wonderful way to explore classic tales with just the right touch of old-fashioned mystery.
9. The Book of Life

A beautiful and colorful film full of music and meaning. It’s about love, bravery, and staying true to yourself, a positive message wrapped in a magical world inspired by the Day of the Dead. Anything Day Of The Dead has my heart.
10. Corpse Bride

I am a huge Tim Burton fan and this is in my top 5 list Tim Burton movies I love. This dark fantasy film features beautiful animation, a tender love story, and that signature quirky Burton atmosphere. It’s better for slightly older or brave younger kids, but the visuals and heartwarming story make it a timeless pick for Halloween.
I also love the shorter Halloween specials, especially for younger kids who might not sit through a full movie. The Toy Story of Terror short is one of our favorites. It’s full of adventure, teamwork, and just enough spooky fun without crossing into anything scary.

Others we love include Spookley the Square Pumpkin, Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space, and Shrek’s Thrilling Tales. These short Halloween movies are perfect for toddlers and make great quick watches before bedtime.
Halloween isn’t just about toddler Halloween costumes and candy. It’s about togetherness, laughter, and keeping little hearts full of wonder. Whether you’re watching Hocus Pocus, cheering for Jack Skellington, or laughing with a friendly ghost, these spooky movies are the perfect way to celebrate the Halloween festivities with your whole family.
So grab some popcorn, snuggle under a cozy blanket, and let your little witches, pumpkins, and monsters enjoy the friendly Halloween movies that make this time of year so special.
