Two Ways to Make Your Apple Basket
The printable pack includes two different options so you can choose the version that best suits your child, classroom or activity.
The full-color pages feature a warm brown basket, a matching handle and bright red apples with green leaves. This version is ready to cut and assemble, making it ideal when you need a quick fall activity with very little preparation.
The black-and-white version can be colored before it is cut out. Children can use crayons, markers or colored pencils to decorate the apples and basket. They could choose traditional red or green apples or create a basket filled with apples in lots of different colors.
Coloring the pieces gives children another opportunity to be creative and makes every finished apple basket slightly different.

Regular printer paper works well, but cardstock will produce a sturdier finished craft. You could also print the pieces onto paper and stick the completed basket onto a thicker background.

Instructions
- Step 1: Print the Pages
Download and print either the full-color apple basket pages or the black-and-white pages.
Check your printer settings and select “actual size” or a similar option to prevent the edges of the printable from being cropped. - Step 2: Color the Craft
If you are using the black-and-white version, invite your child to color the basket, handle and apples.
The open spaces and bold outlines make the pictures suitable for younger children. They can copy the colors shown in the small example or come up with their own fall color palette. - Step 3: Cut Out the Pieces
Carefully cut around the outside of the basket, handle and each individual apple.
Younger children may need some help cutting around the curved shapes. Adults can cut out the basket and handle while children work on the apples, which are a little easier to manage. - Step 4: Arrange the Apple Basket
Place the basket onto a sheet of construction paper or cardstock without gluing it down straight away.
Position the curved handle behind the basket. Next, arrange the apples so they appear to be sitting inside it. Start with the apples near the top and overlap some of the lower apples to create the look of a full basket.
Children can use the finished example as a guide, but the apples do not have to be placed in exactly the same positions. - Step 5: Glue Everything in Place
Once your child is happy with the arrangement, glue the handle and apples into position. Add the basket over the lower sections of the apples to make them look as though they are tucked inside.
Allow the glue to dry before displaying or playing with the completed fall basket.
