Drumond Park have a great selection of board games for family fun, and Rapidough is no exception. This game is best played with at least 4 players and suits children of 8+ although our younger ones were keen to join in too.
The game involves splitting up into two teams to take turns with moulding dough to represent a specific word with the rest of the team guessing what it’s supposed to be. This hands on moulding element of the game makes it quite different to other games that we have, and appealed really well to all ages of players.
The game includes two playdough mats, two tubs of dough, two plugs to steal dough from the other team, and a set of cards with words to model.
The modeller in each team looks at the word on the card (both teams model the same word) and then it’s a race to who can make the most recognisable model first. This new version of Rapidough has been completely refreshed with new words to make the game more accessible to children so that families can enjoy playing together. We found the choice of words just right for playing with the kids – there was nothing that they didn’t know what it was, or struggled too much to make.
Once the modellers start making the word, if the other team guesses first, they can steal some of the dough! As the game goes on, the last team to have dough remaining will be the winner. If your team loses dough often, you will have to get creative and try to mold your words with the tiny amount you have left!
We really liked Rapidough. It’s a great way to get the whole family involved with the playdough, and have fun family time together. The boys’ dad joined in and enjoyed playing, whereas he would never normally get involved when they are just playing and modelling with playdough in a more unstructured way. It would be a great way to get older children involved too.
Rapidough is available for RRP £24.99. See the Drumond Park website for more details.
