Materials Needed for your Reindeer Clothes Pin Ornament

Here’s what you’ll need to make your reindeer come to life:

  • Wooden clothespins – Aka clothes pegs. These are the base of your reindeer. You can find them at craft stores or order them online.
  • Brown paint – Any shade you like! A rich brown gives the reindeer a cozy, wintery look.
  • Foam brush – To make painting a breeze.
  • Small pre-made bows or Holiday Ribbon – For that cute little scarf; it can be festive red, green, or even plaid for a traditional touch.
  • Small googly eyes – Because what’s a reindeer without a pair of curious, twinkly eyes?
  • Ruler and Scissors – For measuring and cutting the ribbon.
  • Craft glue or Hot glue gun – To hold everything together.
  • Ribbon or twine – To create a loop so you can hang it up on your tree.

Create a charming Wooden Clothespin Reindeer Ornament for your holiday tree – a cozy, handmade touch that’s easy, festive, and perfect for spreading Christmas cheer!

Materials

  • Wooden clothespins
  • Brown paint
  • Foam brush
  • Small pre-made bows or Holiday Ribbon
  • Small googly eyes
  • Ruler and Scissors
  • Craft glue or Hot glue gun
  • Ribbon or twine

Instructions

  1. Paint the Clothespins
Start by painting three clothespins with your brown paint. Use a foam brush for smooth, even coverage. Once dry, add a second coat for a richer color and allow it to dry completely before moving to the next step.
  2. Make the Reindeer’s Body
Using your craft glue or hot glue gun, attach two of the painted clothespins front to back. These will form the body of your reindeer.
  3. Add the Scarf
Cut a 4-inch length of ribbon and fold it in half to find the center point. Glue this midpoint to the back of the reindeer’s body about 1 inch from the top, then bring the ends around to the front and tie it in a double knot. Voilà, your reindeer has a cozy little scarf!
  4. Attach the Head
Glue the final clothespin to the front of the reindeer’s body, just above the scarf. This top clothespin is the reindeer’s head, so make sure it’s centered.
  5. Add Eyes and Nose
Attach a red button or pom pom to the reindeer’s head to create its nose, covering the clothespin hole. Then, glue the googly eyes right above the nose – now you’ve got a cute little face looking back at you!
  6. Add a Hanging Loop
Cut a 6-inch length of ribbon or twine, form it into a loop, and glue it to the top back side of the ornament. This is how you’ll hang your reindeer on your tree. Allow everything to dry completely.
