An acrostic poem is like a secret message where the first letter of each line spells out a word – in this case, something like “MOTHER,” “MOM,” or “MUMMY.”
Each letter gives you the starting point to write something special about your mom. You can jot down just words, or if you’re feeling extra wordy, whip up full sentences to create a poem.

How to Write a Mothers day Acrostic Poem

Color your own floral template with the word mom
Or a similar one with the longer word mother. Mom is a great starter poem with young kids, whereas older ones will work better with the longer word and more room for creativity
Or, you could also go with the word Mummy, and again this is an opportunity for the kids to color in the blank canvas of this template
You could always print a few and have them write a couple of acrostic poems to see which one they like best.
This isn’t just for the little ones; everyone from 1st grade to high school, and even beyond, can have a go at it. It’s a great way to dive into creative writing without the pressure of using a fixed rhyme scheme or getting the perfect horizontal line.
