When we are trying to balance a busy family lifestyle with taking care of ourselves and possibly even a career, unfortunately, something ends up falling to the bottom of the list.

What gets pushed to the side? You guessed it – your wellbeing. It’s very easy to put our partners and children before ourselves, but in the long run, this is a bad idea.

The healthier you are, the better equipped you will be to care for your family.

If you’re feeling a little run down or are lacking in energy, here are five simple ways in which you can adapt your lifestyle and boost your wellbeing for the long term.

Eat more fruit and vegetables

You are probably tired of hearing it, but fruits and vegetables contain a huge amount of nutrients which our bodies and minds need in order function.

Eating a more balanced diet can quickly improve your cognitive abilities, your energy levels and boost your immune system.

They can also have a positive effect on your mental wellbeing as some have been shown to increase your levels of the hormone serotonin, which is what makes us feel happy and calm.

Some people have difficulty absorbing vitamins through their diet alone and may benefit from taking vitamin supplements such as Liposomal Vitamins from Abundance & Health.

Unlike many other supplements, they are encapsulated which enables them to pass through the digestive system and cellular absorption barriers without being affected by digestive juices.

This helps them to reach the bloodstream and cells, where they are needed, intact.

Exercise and stretch every day

Another way to boost your serotonin levels is to get some exercise. By putting our bodies through physical exertion, we cause the brain to release endorphins and serotonin to block out any feelings of pain or discomfort.

Exercise also helps blood to circulate and can improve the quality of your sleep.

For example, performing stretches for around 15 minutes each day can increase flexibility and strength, or you might want to take a walk or join a gym class.

Another amazing way to release stress is to invest in a Pranamat ECO. It works wonders afters a gym session or if you are feeling sore after exercising.

This great massage set will make you feel relax and ready to tackle the day, or to rest at the end of a long one.

Practice meditation and mindfulness

Meditation, mindfulness and breathing exercises are all simple but effective techniques to reduce stress and anxiety when life is getting on top of you.

All are about being present in the moment and not dwelling on past or future problems or traumas.

Get plenty of sleep

If you deprive your body and mind of sleep, you will find life harder in just about every way.

Being tired makes us more susceptible to stress and negative emotions, reduces our cognitive processing ability and weakens our immune system.

When we sleep, our bodies set about processing all that it has been through during the day so we can recover and recharge for the day ahead.

Drink more water

The vast majority of people do not drink enough water for our bodies to be able to perform to maximum potential physically and mentally.

Often when we think we are hungry, we may actually be dehydrated. The recommended water intake is around 1.2 -1.5 litres, but sugar-free tea, coffee and low-fat milk also contribute to your hydration.

  1. These are fantastic tips for boosting energy. The one that I love the most is to stretch and exercise. I struggled with very low energy levels for a long time and found it so hard to get motivated to exercise because it was the very last thing that I felt like doing. It is only when I started exercising that I found my energy levels increasing. It was just pushing through that first day or two and then I was feeling so much better.
I’m also finding that having enough sleep is essential to my energy levels and my overall health.
