4 New Picture books To Delve Into

4 picture books to delve into - new picture books for kids guest post from my book corner

Huge thanks to the lovely Anna, for inviting me to pen a guest post for the inspiring In The Playroom.

I’ve been wrapped up in some beautiful new picture books recently at My Book Corner, picture books really do hold a special place in my heart.

Where better to share them than in the playroom?!
Nuts in Space by Elys Dolan

Now this one comes from the creator of the Weasels (did you get your hands on that one?), well Elys’ latest picture book is brimming with the same sense of humour.

Our little adventurers have completed their mission. They’ve obtained the Lost Nuts of Legend, now all they have to do is get them home. But. The Sat Nav has broken and someone has nibbled the map! Ooops.

Almost cartoon like in format, this picture book is packed full of little details making it perfect for revisiting. Space + humour = perfect.

Little Lou and the Woolly Mammoth by Paula Bowles

Little Lou is surrounded by her toys, but, she is bored (familiar, eh?) She spots a loose thread. It’s moving. It leads her all the way to … yep, a woolly mammoth! Lou does what any self respecting little girl would do … she runs.

With gorgeously soft illustrations Paula shows her readers that all is not as it first seems. Using some wonderfully energetic vocabulary to keep them entertained and hooked, Little Lou and the Woolly Mammoth is a delightful read.

The Way to the Zoo by John Burningham

Sylvie notices a tiny door in her bedroom, she soon discovers it leads to … the zoo. What fun to invite a whole host of different animals back to her room each night? Penguins splash in the bathtub, some are too smelly … and some are incredibly messy.

I absolutely love the oodles of imagination in this one.

The Yes by Sarah Bee

When the main character decides to head out to ‘The Where’ he is filled with self doubt. The niggling no tells him he can’t do these things – explore the woods, climb a tree, cross the bridge.

Sarah Bee’s narrative is alluring, as she fills her little readers with self confidence in order to over come that niggling doubt.

The Yes is a picture book filled with energy, warmth and such a feel good factor that’ll have you punching the air as you reach the end. I promise.
