If you’re looking for a last minute Halloween craft to do with the kids, you can’t get much simpler than these paper plate Pumpkin jack o lanterns. They’re easy enough to do with toddlers, and you can pair them with a fun Halloween book like Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Everywhere! to make a great crafting and story session.
You will need:
- Orange paper plates (or plain plus orange paint or orange tissue paper and glue)
- Black foam sheet and scissors (or black card)
- Green ribbon
- Glue stick (or Blu tack – see how we used blu tack for our Halloween paper plate crafts here)
Suggested story book:
- Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Everywhere! (UK / US) <- Click these affiliate links to see the book on Amazon for your country
Read the story together and then just cut and stick the pieces onto the paper plate to make your own pumpkin faces for the pumpkin parade.
Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Everywhere is a lovely non scary Halloween themed book for young kids, telling the story of a Halloween Pumpkin parade in simple rhyming text.
The book focuses on opposites like Pumpkin Happy, Pumpkin Sad or Pumpkin wet and Pumpkin dry and also includes different pumpkin designs like pumpkin cats, bats and more so you could use these for inspiration to make a whole parade of paper plate pumpkins to go along with the story!
