This month I’ve got together with my Kids Craft Stars friends to share our tissue paper craft ideas. As the kids are heading back to school and autumn is around the corner, the kids and I decided to go for an Autumn theme with some simple apple and pumpkin tissue paper suncatchers to brighten up our windows.

Pumpkin and apple tissue paper sun catchers craft to brighten up your windows for fall. Fun and easy autumn craft for kids

Another way to make apple suncatchers is with this melted bead apple sun catcher craft tutorial so check that out too.

To make these tissue sun catchers you will need:

  • Plastic yoghurt lids (ours are actually from cottage cheese tubs.. any tub with these round plastic lids over the top of the foil should give you what you need)
  • Coloured tissue paper – orange for the pumpkin, red and green for the apples.
  • Glue stick (We use these ones)
  • Green pipe cleaners for the stems (We used glittery green)
  • Clear tape
  • Ribbon to hang
  • Green paper, or paper and a green felt tip pen / marker
  • Double sided tape

To make the suncatchers, cut a circle of the coloured tissue and glue it inside the plastic lid. For the apples, we used two colours – either red or green for the base and then a patch of the opposite colour to give it more tone.

Once the tissue paper is stuck down, cut your pipe cleaner to size to make the stems and tape down with clear tape. For the pumpkin, twist the pipe cleaner to make the stem curly.

Cut your ribbon to size, and use the clear tape to stick this to the back of the sun catcher too, to make it easy to hang in your window.

Cut small leaf shapes from your paper (one per sun catcher) and use the double sided tape to attach this at the base of each stem.

And you’re done….
