Tonka My First Strong Arm Fire Truck Review

The Tonka My First Strong Arm Fire Truck is a large and chunky fire engine from the My First Tonka range, which includes a variety of Tonka vehicles with prices starting from £6.99.

My First Tonka collection is a chunky range of vehicles made with little hands in mind and includes the Mini Wobble Wheels, Flashlight Force, Soft Walkin’ Wheels and Strong Arm vehicles in its collection. The Mini Wobble range features super chunky wheels and will wobble as they move along the ground

This range is recommended from age 3+ but would suit a large range of children, including younger toddlers as well, and as the name suggests it would be a good one to start kids off on their Tonka journey as they’re really durable and tough so can withstand a lot of boisterous play.

Because the fire truck is so large (like a lot of the Tonka range – The name TONKA actually comes from the Dakota Sioux word “Tanka” or Tonka, which means “great” or “big”) and chunky, it will be good for outdoor play in the summer as well as indoor. TONKA originated in 1947 in Mound, Minnesota originally created and manufactured by Mound Metalcraft, who are a manufacturer of garden implements, so they have a 70 year history of getting dirty which is reflected in the robust toys.

The Tonka My First Strong Arm Fire Truck has a ladder which raises up and also a lever to pull at the side, which activates the sirens and the lights – so there are a few different bits to explore. I like the lever feature as it means you don’t need batteries, which you normally would to power lights and sounds on a toy, and it helps to teach younger kids about cause and effect.
